# Back button for Flow help tips

While navigating in a Flow, there might be occasions where an end-user might want to go back to a previous step and edit a value or view the step again. Users can click the **Back** button to navigate back to the previous step.

          **Note**

          

- The **Back** button doesn't appear if the previous step is optional.
- For Smart Context enabled accounts, the **Back** button appears only if the consecutive steps have the same page tags. For non-Smart Context accounts, the Back button appears only if the consecutive steps are on the same page of your app.
- If the **Back** button for a step is manually disabled and a step is added, moved, or deleted, then the **Back** button is reintroduced wherever applicable. The earlier change is overwritten.
- Add or remove the Back button from a specific Flow using the **Customize** option, or from all Flows using the **Interaction** dropdown.
