This flexibility helps teams validate and adopt software updates according to their own schedules and operational requirements. #### How Update software for this ENT independently Work By default, **Update software for this ENT independently** is disabled. The setting state decides which accounts receive an update that you trigger from the current account. When more than one account is linked to your organization, you can choose how [software updates](/studio/docs/whatfix-software-updates) reach the accounts: - When you select the **Update software for this ENT independently** checkbox, the software update that you trigger from an account applies only to that account. Other accounts linked to your organization remain unchanged. - When you clear the **Update software for this ENT independently** checkbox, the software update that you trigger from one account applies to all accounts linked to your organization. Your accounts stay on the same software version. --- #### When to use Update software for this ENT independently Use the following scenarios to decide whether the accounts linked to your organization update together or independently: 1. Disable independent updates to: - Maintain the same software version across all accounts. - Update all accounts at once instead of one at a time. For example: **All accounts share updates** Accounts A, B, and C are linked to your organization. All three accounts have independent updates disabled. The following results apply: - When you update the software from account A, accounts B and C also receive the update. - When you update the software from account B or C, the other two accounts also receive the update. 1. Enable independent updates to: - Hold one account at its current version while the other accounts update. - Manage updates for an account on a separate schedule, such as an account that a different team or region uses. For example: **One account updates independently** Accounts A, B, and C are linked to your organization. Only account C has independent updates enabled. The following results apply: - When you update the software from account A, account B also receives the update. However, Account C doesn't receive the update. - When you update the software from account C, only account C receives the update. --- #### Enable Update software for this ENT independently Use the following steps to enable independent software updates for an ENT: 1. The toggle controls only which accounts receive future software updates. **If I disable independent updates on an account, does the account update immediately to match the other account?** No. The ENT receives the next software update triggered from any ENT that shares updates. **How do I check which ENTs share software updates?** On each account, go to the **Technical configuration** tab, and view the **Update software for this ENT independently** toggle. Each account is a separate workspace, and an organization can have more than one account linked to it. For software updates, each account can receive updates independently or share updates with other accounts linked to the same organization.
