Introducing Self Help FAB Orientation

What is new?

The Improved Self Help now supports enhanced customization options for the Floating Action Button (FAB), such as Orientation and Style. These new customizations enable personalization of the widget and enhance the overall user experience.

Why does it matter to me?

The new customization options help you align the look and feel of the Improved Self Help widget with your application. You can easily replicate your previous Self Help design to maintain a consistent experience for your end users, automatically adapt to light or dark mode settings, and fine-tune the widget’s orientation and visual style to enhance the overall experience for your end users.

Configure the following:

Orientation

  • Horizontal: Positions the FAB horizontally along any screen side (top, bottom, left, or right).

  • Auto-orient: Automatically positions the FAB vertically when placed on the left or right sides, and horizontally when placed at the top or bottom.

Style

  • Only icon: Show only the FAB icon without a label.

  • Icon & label: Show both the FAB icon and a text label.

  • Only label: Show only the text label without the icon.

How do I do this?

The new customization options automatically appears on your Whatfix Guidance dashboard if your account is already enabled with the Improved Self Help experience. For more information, see Configure Self Help.

Note:

If you are using the Old Self Help experience and would like to enable the Improved Self Help experience earlier, contact support@whatfix.com.

Whatfix Diagnostics is now Generally Available to all users

What is new?

Whatfix Diagnostics helps you identify and resolve issues with your content and widgets. For example, when a Flow step fails or a widget doesn’t appear as expected, enabling the Diagnostics panel enables real-time monitoring of your content and widgets as they run on the page. It offers detailed feedback, highlighting what works and what doesn’t, guiding you to identify and fix issues independently.

Why does it matter to me?

Previously, when you ran into content or widget issues, troubleshooting required trial and error or contacting Support. With Whatfix Diagnostics, you can:

  • See exactly when and why a content piece or widget does not work as expected.

  • Receive clear information on how to fix the issue.

  • Improve the testing process before rolling content out to your end users.

  • Find and resolve issues without heavily relying on Whatfix support.

How do I do this?

This capability is available to everyone without any extra configuration. For more information, see Whatfix Diagnostics in Studio.

Custom Variables for content personalisation

What is new?

Introducing Custom Variables — a self-serviceable way to to capture, store, and reuse data from your application to deliver personalized, context-aware guidance without writing AC code. Fetch values, such as field inputs, cookies, Lokaler Speicher, or URL segments directly from the base application and use them across multiple pieces of Whatfix content and widgets.

For example, capture a “Project ID” entered by the user in an early step of a workflow and reuse it by automatically entering the value in a similar field on a different tab of the application— without the user re-entering it.

Why does it matter to me?

Enterprise organizations often need guidance that adapts to user context across complex workflows. Previously, achieving content personalization this required AC code, which meant depending on Whatfix teams for setup, duplicating effort for each use case, and lacking a unified way to manage variables for both Guidance and Product Analytics.

Custom Variables enable you to:

  • Capture real-time data from your application (field values, cookies, storage, URL segments, and more).

  • Reuse captured values across pages and multiple pieces of content for continuity.

  • Personalize experiences at scale, such as greeting users by name or tailoring guidance to their role.

How do I do this?

Custom Variables is a Beta feature. Use the Sign up for Beta button to get started.

Whatfix Studio enhancements

What is new?

We’ve made the following usability and interface enhancements in Whatfix Studio:

  • Toggle Preview Mode: The preview button has been changed to a toggle mode that accurately reflects its current state.

  • Hand Icon Removed: The hand icon has been retired for a cleaner workspace.

  • Quick Shift and Minimize Options: The Move Left or Right, and minimize actions are now easily accessible outside the More icon.

  • New Profile Page Layout: A new profile page enables you to view account details and logout from the account.

  • Enhanced Tooltips: Hovering over an ENT’s name now displays the full name, regardless of length.

Why does it matter to me?

These updates are designed to make Whatfix Studio experience more intuitive and efficient.

You can now preview content with a clearer visual toggle, navigate and rearrange Studio faster, view complete entity names without truncation, and work in a cleaner, more organized interface—saving you time and reducing friction in your workflow.

How do I do this?

The enhancements to the Whatfix Studio are available to all users without additional configuration.
