# Error: Failed to publish content items

#### Issue

#### Probable Causes

- **Whatfix Dashboard Issue**: In rare scenarios, Whatfix experiences a temporary platform-wide disruption. This issue prevents successful content publication.
- **Issues with Whatfix Content:** Errors within the content might prevent publication. This includes incorrect display rules, source url or broken links.

#### Suggested Solutions

- **Review Content:** Carefully review the content for any errors or inconsistencies that might be preventing it from being published, which includes visibility rules and embedded links.
- **Unpublish and Republish**: Try unpublishing the content and then republishing the Whatfix content or widget.
