# FAQs: Unified Content Experience

Read the following article for answers to common questions about the **Unified Content Experience**, including what has changed, how Visibility Rules work, and what to expect after migration.

#### What is the Unified Content Experience?

The **Unified Content Experience** is a foundational update to how **Smart Tips**, **Beacons**, **Launchers**, and **Blockers** are managed in Whatfix. Previously, content and its associated widget existed as two separate entities—each with its own page and publishing actions. With this update, they are merged into a single entity managed entirely from the **Content page**.

You can now view, edit, configure visibility rules, publish, archive, and delete your content—all from one place, without switching between the Content and Widgets pages.

For more information, see [Unified Content Experience](/studio/docs/unified-dashboard-experience).

#### Which content types are affected by this change?

The Unified Content Experience affects the following content types:

- **Smart Tips**
- **Beacons**
- **Launchers**
- **Blockers**

> [!WARNING]
> Note:
>
> Popups, Surveys, Self Help, and Task Lists remain in the Widgets section and are managed the same way as before.

#### Do I need to do anything after my account is migrated?

For most content, migration is automatic, and no action is needed. However, some content may require your attention if:

- The content and its Visibility Rules are in different stages (for example, content is in Production but Visibility Rules are in Draft)
- A single content item has multiple Visibility Rule sets associated with it

In such scenarios, a **warning** appears in the **Collection Visibility** tab for the affected content in content edit window. You need to review and resolve these manually.

For more information, see [Resolving Content and Visibility Rule Stage Mismatches After Migration](/studio/docs/unified-content-scenarios).

#### I see a warning message in the Collection Visibility tab. What do I do?

A **warning** in the **Collection Visibility** tab means the content and its Visibility Rules are in different stages or that the content has multiple Visibility Rule sets that need to be merged. This requires a judgment call from you to decide the right stage for your content and which visibility rules to retain.

For more information, see [Resolving Content and Visibility Rule Stage Mismatches After Migration](/studio/docs/unified-content-scenarios).

#### Where do I manage Visibility Rules now?

This depends on the level of Visibility Rules you are managing:

**Collection Visibility**: applies to the entire collection (the whole Smart Tip, Beacon, Launcher, or Blocker). This was previously managed from the **Widgets** section and was called **Visibility Rules**. It is now on the **Content page** under the **Collection Visibility** tab.

**Step-level Visibility Rules**: applies to individual steps within a collection. These are still configured in **Whatfix Studio** when you create and select a UI element. Nothing has changed here.

> [!WARNING]
> Note:
>
> **Popups, Surveys, Self Help, and Task Lists** are unaffected; their Visibility Rules remain in the Widgets section.

#### Did my existing Visibility Rules change after migration?

No. All existing Visibility Rule configurations, including **Who**, **When**, and **Where** conditions are carried over automatically during migration. Nothing is modified, removed, or reset.

**What has changed?**

Collection-level Visibility Rules (previously in the Widgets section) are now on the **Content page** under the **Collection Visibility** tab. Step-level rules in Whatfix Studio remain unchanged.

#### Do I still need to set Visibility Rules in Whatfix Studio after migration?

Yes. There are two separate levels of Visibility Rules, and both still apply after migration:

- **Collection Visibility** controls whether the entire collection appears on your application.
- **Step-level rules** in Whatfix Studio control whether individual steps within that collection are shown. Both levels of Visibility Rules must be defined for a content to appear to your end users.

#### Why don’t I see the Widgets section for some content?

The **Widgets** section exists, but **Smart Tips**, **Beacons**, **Launchers**, and **Blockers** are no longer managed from this page. They have been moved to the **Content page**.

The Widgets section enables you to configure Visibility Rules only for **Popups**, **Surveys**, **Self Help**, and **Task Lists**. These continue to be managed from the Widgets section.

#### How are Publish, Archive, and Delete actions impacted?

Publish, Archive, and Delete actions are now managed entirely from the **Content page**. Previously, you needed to publish, archive, or delete the content and the widget separately — often switching between tabs and confirming multiple times.

With the [Unified Content Experience](/studio/docs/unified-dashboard-experience), publishing the content also publishes its **Collection Visibility** rules. There is no longer a separate widget dependency.

#### Is the Unified Content Experience available to all users?

The Unified Content Experience is currently available as a **Beta**feature. It is not enabled by default. To enable it, contact [**support@whatfix.com**](mailto:support@whatfix.com?subject=Enable%20Unified%20Content%20Experience&body=Hi%2C%0A%0APlease%20enable%20the%20new%20content%20experience%20for%20the%20following%20account%3A%0A%0AAccount%20name%3A).

> [!WARNING]
> Note:
>
> If your account has already been migrated, Smart Tips, Beacons, Launchers, and Blockers appear only in the Content section on both the Whatfix Dashboard and Studio — not in the Widgets section.
