# Manage Extensions on the Whatfix Dashboard

### Overview

Whatfix extensions display content to users as an overlay on an application. Use Whatfix extensions when you do not have access to the application's source code.

The Whatfix Guidance Dashboard enables you to generate extensions across different browsers.

          **Note:**

Only an **Account Manager** can perform the following task. For more information about available roles, see [Whatfix User Roles](/studio/docs/whatfix-user-roles).

---

Use **Manage Extensions** in your Whatfix Dashboard to configure, download, and view extensions.

The following image displays the options to download the Whatfix extension:

- as a **Zip File** ([to manually load the extension](/studio/docs/how-to-install-a-whatfix-chrome-extension-from-a-zip-file)).
- from the Whatfix Store.
- from the Edge Store.

          Info:

You have to enable extensions to see the **Manage Extensions** option in your Whatfix Dashboard. To enable it, contact [support@whatfix.com](mailto:support@whatfix.com?Subject=Enable%20browser%20extension&Body=Hi%20team%2C%0A%0AKindly%20enable%20browser%20extensions%20for%20my%20account.).

### Set up the Manage Extensions page

Use the following steps to set up the Manage Extensions page:

1. On the Whatfix Guidance dashboard, click **Settings**. ![ia_left_nav_settings](https://cdn.document360.io/a268766e-d74d-4619-9613-e2472f809ffb/Images/Documentation/ia_left_nav_settings.png)
2. Click **Content deployment**. ![ia_settings_content%20deployement](https://cdn.document360.io/a268766e-d74d-4619-9613-e2472f809ffb/Images/Documentation/ia_settings_content%20deployement.png)

1. Go to the **Configurations** tab. ![Dashboard_me_config](https://cdn.document360.io/a268766e-d74d-4619-9613-e2472f809ffb/Images/Documentation/Dashboard_me_config.png)
2. Use the following details and complete the information on the form to generate an extension: The following fields need to be filled in to create the extension:

**a)** **Extension Name** - Click the **Edit** icon and enter a name for your extension. A best practice is to use Whatfix for Enterprise or Application name. For example: **Whatfix For Salesforce Lightning**. ![Dashboard_extension_name](https://cdn.document360.io/a268766e-d74d-4619-9613-e2472f809ffb/Images/Documentation/Dashboard_extension_name.png)

**b)** **Extension Description** - Click the **Edit** icon and enter a short description of the extension. For example: Whatfix provides in-app interactive guides and Flows to Ease User Onboarding, Reduce Training, and Improve Support. ![Dashboard_me_extension_des](https://cdn.document360.io/a268766e-d74d-4619-9613-e2472f809ffb/Images/Documentation/Dashboard_me_extension_des.png)

**c)** **Extension Icon** - Click the **Choose** to customize the extension with a logo of your choice. The icon you upload is what your users see on their extension once they download the extension on their browsers. ![Dashboard_me_extension_icon](https://cdn.document360.io/a268766e-d74d-4619-9613-e2472f809ffb/Images/Documentation/Dashboard_me_extension_icon.png)

          Info:

Only the .png format is supported for icons. The maximum dimensions supported are 128 x 128 pixels. Up to 1 MB size is supported.

**d)** **Other Browsers** - Choose all the browsers you want to build the extension for. ![Dashboard_me_browsers](https://cdn.document360.io/a268766e-d74d-4619-9613-e2472f809ffb/Images/Documentation/Dashboard_me_browsers.png)

          Info:

- In the **Configurations** tab, disable the browser toggle. Disabling the browser stops showing content to your end users. ![enable_toggle](https://cdn.document360.io/a268766e-d74d-4619-9613-e2472f809ffb/Images/Documentation/enable_toggle.png)
- When you clear the extension type checkbox, end users can only see the content that has been updated last before clearing the checkbox.
- If you want to update the content, select the extension you want, and then [push the content and widgets back to Production](/studio/docs/pushing-whatfix-content-to-production). The extension gets updated automatically and your end users can see the updated content. ![enable_extensions](https://cdn.document360.io/a268766e-d74d-4619-9613-e2472f809ffb/Images/Documentation/enable_extensions.png)

The system sends an email that includes a link to download the respective extension file to the registered email associated with the account. The information on the last generated version of the extension is also displayed (only for all extensions that were updated).
