# Unable to capture values from a dropdown menu

## Issue

When capturing an automated Flow, you might need to capture a value from a dropdown menu. Selecting a value in the dropdown menu often causes the menu to close before capturing the step.

## Probable Cause

The issue occurs because the click used to select the dropdown value inadvertently closes the menu, which leaves the captured value empty.

## Suggested Solution

Follow the steps to capture the desired value from a dropdown menu using Studio:

1. Select the desired value in the dropdown menu.
2. Click the corresponding element on the page to capture it.
3. Use the shortcut key Shift+M to resolve the issue of element selection when dropdown values are involved.

These steps enable you to accurately capture the dropdown values without closing the menu. Ensure that the correct value is visible and selected before capturing the step.
