# Understand Flow exits

Whatfix captures both Flow failures and exits.

**Flow failure**: Occurs when an issue prevents the Flow from proceeding. **Flow exit**: Occurs when the Flow functions correctly, but the user decides not to continue and navigates away.

---

Flow exits happen due to one of the following reasons:

- The user explicitly closes the Flow using the X icon.

- Flow transition issue: The user does not click the next available action in the Flow but clicks another Flow.
- User navigates away: This can result from one of two possibilities:
  - No activity from the user
  - The user moves away from the computer

The reasons for exits can be seen when you hover your cursor over the chart in [Flow Analytics](/studio/docs/flow-analytics). ![Dashboard_analytics_flow_failedsteps](https://cdn.document360.io/a268766e-d74d-4619-9613-e2472f809ffb/Images/Documentation/Dashboard_analytics_flow_failedsteps.png)
