# What happens to the content when I switch the Flow step type?

When you switch between **Attached to element** and **Free-floating** [Flow step types](/studio/docs/create-free-floating-flows) on Whatfix Studio during Flow creation, the content that you create remains unaffected.

Switching between the Flow steps during [**Launch Live Edit**](/studio/docs/how-does-preview-mode-differ-from-see-live-and-launch-live-edit) also retains the content and changes only the step types.
