# What is the difference between Flow started and Flows Initiated?

Some Insights in the Flow dashboard within the new Guidance Analytics dashboard display data for Flow started; others display data for Flows Initiated. Flow started and Flows Initiated are two different metrics.

**Flow started:**Some Insights in the new Guidance Analytics dashboard displays data for Flow started because the metric is calculated using only one Event, Flow started.

> **Flow started**: Triggered when an end user launches a Flow from any source.

For example, the Insight, **Flow trigger points breakdown** displays the number of times Flows are started from any source, such as Self Help, Pop-up, or Task List.

**Flows Initiated**: Some Insights in the new Guidance Analytics dashboard displays data for Flows Initiated because the metric is calculated using one or more events, an Event groups.

Flows Initiated contains two events: Flow started and User transitioned to another Flow.

> **User transitioned to another Flow**: Triggered when an end user navigates to another Flow from the first Flow.

For example, the Insight: **Flows daily played report**, is calculated using the Event group, Flows Initiated. The Event group includes engagement data for the number of times Flows are started from any source and the number of times end users transition to another Flow from the first Flow.

An event is usually a single event, which is triggered every time a user interacts with any Whatfix content.

An Event group combines two or more individual events into a single grouped-event. It enables you to see the total number of users who performed any of the events in the group.
