The Explorer component of Hub is created and configured using a Self Help segment. A Self Help segment contains:
- A list of content shown to end users.
- A Search Scope that determines what content shows up in the search results of your segment.
The content listing and search results of the Self Help segment appear in Explorer.
Default Segment
By default, a Default Segment for Self Help is created in the Draft stage of your Whatfix Guidance dashboard. This segment is configured to contain all the content on your dashboard.
Configure a Self Help segment
The following article discusses the various steps involved in configuring a Self Help segment and walks you through a basic configuration.
Step 1: Create or edit a Self Help segment from the dashboard
-
On the Whatfix Guidance dashboard, click Widgets.
-
Click Explorer.
Edit an existing Self Help segment
To edit an existing Self Help segment, hover your cursor over the segment you want to edit and then click the Edit icon.Create a new Self Help segment
Use the following steps to create a new Self Help segment:
-
Click Create widget.
-
Click Self Help.
-
Name your Self Help segment.
Step 2: Add content to your segment
There are several ways to add content to your Self Help segment. For more information, see Add or remove content from Explorer. One way to add content to your segment is to enable the Add all existing and future content items toggle, which ensures all the content on your dashboard is present in the segment at all times.
This toggle is enabled by default in the Default Segment.
Only the first 20 pieces of content added to your segment are visible to your end users. The list of content visible to end users is called the default listing. To access the remaining content, end users can search for them.
To configure the content count in the default listing, contact support@whatfix.com.
Step 3: Set the Search Scope of your segment
The Search Scope of your segment determines what content is shown in the search results of the segment. There are two Search Scope options:
- All Flows: Includes all content on your dashboard. This option is set by default.
- Tags: Restricts what content shows in the search results of the segment using tags.
For more information, see Search Scope of a Self Help segment.
Step 4: Push your segment to Production
For your segment to be visible to your end users, it must be in the Production stage of the dashboard. For more information about pushing widgets to production, see Push Whatfix content and widgets to Production.
