# Create a Smart Tip on Mirror

## Overview

Whatfix enables you to create a Smart Tip on a Mirror simulation to provide contextual information on a specific element that needs additional explanation while learners practice a workflow. The Smart Tip appears as a tooltip tied to the element it clarifies.

For example, you can create a Smart Tip on a Mirror simulation to explain how to fill a confusing field on a form-entry practice screen, so learners enter the correct value during the simulation.

## Use Cases

Use Smart Tips to implement the following use cases:

- Clarify the purpose of a complex field or input on a Mirror Screen during training.
- Provide inline guidance at key decision points so learners take the correct action.
- Surface definitions, formatting rules, or warnings exactly where learners need them in the workflow.

## Create a Smart Tip

Expand the following accordions for more details:

****Step-1: Create a Smart Tip****

Use the following steps to create a Smart Tip collection:

1. Log in to the application where you want to create content, and then launch Whatfix Studio.

2. Under **CONTENT**, click **Smart-tip**.

3. Enter a name for the Smart Tip Collection.

> - A Smart Tip collection is a group of Smart Tips and are usually on the same page.
> - The Smart Tip collection name is solely for your (creator's) reference and is not visible to your learners.
> - Visibility Rules are defined at the Smart Tip collection level. Consequently, a Smart Tip must belong to a collection in order to be displayed, even when only a single Smart Tip is present on a page.
4. Click **Add help tip** to create a new Smart Tip.

5. Select an element on the application where the Smart Tip must appear.

6. Enter a description for the Smart Tip action.

> The Smart Tip description is visible to your learner when they hover their cursor over the Smart Tip.
7. In the **Configurations** tab, expand **Interaction**, and then, under the **Display Smart Tip on** section, select the required condition to stop displaying the Smart Tip.

8. Under **Appearance**, select the required theme and color for the Smart Tip. For more information, see [Configure Style and Tooltips](/studio/docs/configure-themes-and-tooltips).

9. Under **Icon**, select the Type, Color, and Size of the icon.

10. Under **Positioning**, adjust the position of the Smart Tip.

11. Under **Tooltip Position**, choose the required position of the tooltip.

13. Under **Additional Options**, enable the **Anchor to Page** or **Anchor to Element** toggle based on your requirement. For more information, see [Anchor content to a Page](/studio/docs/anchor-to-page) and [Anchor content to an Element](/studio/docs/anchor-to-element).

14. In the **Visibility Rules**, enter the required visibility rules for the Smart Tip. Visibility Rules enable you to configure Smart Tips to display the tooltip only when pre-determined conditions are met. ****Step-2: Configure the Visibility Rules for the Smart Tip****

Use the following steps to configure visibility rules for a Smart Tip:

1. On the [Whatfix Guidance Dashboard](/studio/docs/overview-of-the-whatfix-dashboard), click **Content**.

2. Click **Smart-tips**.

3. Hover your cursor over the Smart Tip collection you want to configure, and then click **Edit**.

4. Click **Collection Visibility**.

6. Expand the **When does the tips collection Rules start appearing?** section, and configure when you want to start showing the Smart Tip collection. > To display the Smart Tip on your Mirror simulation, you must move both the Smart Tip and the Mirror simulation from the **Draft** stage to the **Production** stage before you share them with your learners. Publish the Smart Tip on the Whatfix Guidance Dashboard and the Mirror simulation on the Whatfix Mirror Dashboard.

Whatfix Studio is a browser plug-in that enables you to create various types of Whatfix content, such as Flows, Smart Tips, Beacons, and so on. The plug-in can be installed on Google Chrome and the new Microsoft Edge browsers.
