Create Trend Insights for EI

With Trend Insights, Whatfix enables you to turn all your user behavior and engagement queries into actionable insights.
Use Trend Insights to:
Analyze engagement with Whatfix content and applications: Analyze how end users engage with Whatfix content and widgets, such as Smart Tips or Pop-ups, or applications.
Analyze session data across applications: Analyze session-related user behavior questions, such as how long end users stay in applications, how often they return, and how much time they spend. For more information, see Analyze sessions using Trend Insights in EI.
- Currently, you cannot analyze a combination of events and sessions in the same Trend Insight. You can either analyze engagement with events or analyze session data at a point in time.
- Currently, you cannot filter session data by events. For example, you cannot analyze the number of users who clicked a specific User Action within a session.

Analyze the feature adoption across applications
Data setup:
Event metric: Total events
App events: Any App Events
Event breakdown: Event type, Applications
Visualized data:
Analyze Flows triggered from any source grouped by role in Salesforce
Data setup:
Event metric: Total events
Guidance events: Flow started
Applications: Salesforce
Event breakdown: Content Title, Event Trigger Location
User breakdown: role
Visualized data:
Analyze the total time the Sales department has spent across applications during the past month
Data setup:
Session metrics: Total session time
User filter: Department = Sales
User breakdown: User Id

Steps to create a Trend Insight
Use the following steps to analyze engagement with Whatfix content and applications:
- On the Enterprise Insights dashboard, click Insights.
Click Create insights.
Click Trend Insights.
Click the Give your insight a name textbox to enter a name for your Insight.
Click the Description text box and enter a description that explains what the Trend Insight is about.
- The Description gives you context about the created Insight when added to a Dashboard.
- It also enables other stakeholders to understand what data the Insight depicts while viewing Dashboards created by other team members.
- From the Select user type dropdown, choose whether to analyze data for All users, Identified users, or Anonymous users.
- By default, Insights data may contain identified (users identified by User ID) and unidentified (users not identified but denoted by Anonymized Whatfix IDs) users.
- The Event identification rate indicates the percentage of events Whatfix is able to attribute to uniquely identified users.
- For more information on filtering users and understanding the Event identification rate, see How can I filter unidentified users in Enterprise Insights?
- Click the Data source icon and select the stage from which you want to get the data.
For more information on obtaining analytics data from different stages, see Get Analytics Data across CLM Stages.
The stage cannot be changed after creating the Insight. Switching to a different stage resets the Insight, requiring a restart.
Click Choose metric.
Under Event metrics, select Total events or Unique users as required.
Click Add event and then add the required Guidance events, App events, or Event groups.
Click Applications, and select the applications that you want.
Add a Filter for the event.
Add a Breakdown for the event.

- In the User filter section, click Add user filter, and then select the filter that you want.
- To exclude specific filter values for which you don't require data, see How can you exclude filter values in Enterprise Insights (EI)?
- To exclude blank filter values from your data, see How can I exclude blank filter values in Enterprise Insights?
- In the User breakdown section, click Add user breakdown, and then select the desired breakdown.

- Once the setup is complete, scroll down to view the generated data chart.
Visualize the data using different chart types.
Filter data based on Daily, Weekly, and Monthly timeframes.
- Click Save.
You can add the Trend Insight to a Custom Dashboard. Click the icon next to the Select user type filter to check if the Insight is part of a Dashboard.
- Whatfix captures session data for all accounts that performed a push to Production after May 20, 2025.
- Activities performed within a session include engagement with Whatfix content, triggering User Actions, and Page Views.

Click Create insights.
Click Trend Insights.

- Currently, Whatfix enables you to visualize only one session metric per Trend Insight.
- In the User filter section, click Add user filter, and then select the desired filter.
