Artikel-Zusammenfassung

Whatfix’s Autocapture automatically captures all click events and interactions on your application pages, eliminating the need to manually capture elements using User Actions. After the Autocapture feature is enabled, Whatfix shows you the most engaged Autocaptured click events on the application’s page. You can identify and track Autocaptured events that you want to analyze and visualize the engagement in Trend Insights.

Use the following steps to identify and track Autocaptured events:

  1. Log in to your application, and then launch the Whatfix Studio.
    CLM_editor plug in2

  2. Under EVENTS, click Track event.

  3. Click Refresh page.

Info:

Whatfix refreshes the page, and the Preview Mode is enabled.

  1. Under the Top undefined events section, click the Preview icon next to an Autocaptured event. Whatfix automatically generates names for most Undefined Autocaptured events.

Note:

  • Whatfix displays the top 30 most-engaged Autocaptured events since Autocapture was enabled. Some elements, such as icons, might appear as Unnamed elements when Whatfix cannot automatically generate names for them. Whatfix enables you to name and track the Unnamed elements.

  • The name that appears at the top of the page is the Smart Context-based page name for that specific page.

  • The total number of page visits in the last seven days is near real-time, with just a 15-minute delay. Consider that the current date and time are 24/06/2024, 17:15 hours. Page visits for the last seven days include data from 17/06/2024, 00:00 hours, up to 24/06/2024, 17:00 hours.

  • Page visits are not unique.

  1. Preview the event location in the user interface (UI) highlighted by the red rectangle.

    Note:

    • Whatfix uses red rectangles to highlight Undefined Autocaptured events and blue rectangles to highlight Defined Autocaptured events.

    • Previewing the location of the Autocaptured event in the UI helps you understand which event is being tracked and decide whether to save it.

  2. If you want to save the event, in Whatfix Studio, go to the Autocaptured event you previewed, and then click the Add name icon.

    Note:

View the selected Autocaptured event highlighted on the page.

  3. In Whatfix Studio, review the auto-generated name or edit the name as needed.

    Note:

Editing the name of an unsaved Autocaptured event does not impact the data or the location of the event in the UI.

  4. Add a tag to the Autocaptured event. For more information, see Tag Autocaptured events.

    Note:

    • Interaction tracked in the past week denotes the engagement received for the Autocaptured event in the last seven days.

    • To change the trigger type of the Autocaptured event from click to any other type, such as hovering or typing text, click More Options, and then click Create user action. Studio changes to the User Action experience and you can create User Actions as usual. For more information, see How can I track events that are not Autocaptured?

    • To capture Event Attributes from the Autocaptured event, create the Autocaptured event as a User Action (More Options —> Create user action) and then capture Attributes from the User Action. For more information, see How can I track events that are not Autocaptured?.

  5. Click Save Action.

    Note:

    • After saving the first five Autocaptured events, Whatfix automatically loads the next five most-engaged events.

    • If you want to view all the 30 Autocaptured events tracked for a page, click the Next page icon on each page in Studio.

      autocapture_studio_click_next_page.png

  6. Repeat steps 4-9 for other events in the Top undefined events section.

    Note:

Consider that you’ve saved the first 30 events on a specific page. If there are more events tracked for the same page, refresh the page to view the next 30 Autocaptured events.

  7. Go to the next page and repeat Steps 4 to 10 to identify and save Autocaptured events on the new page.

    Note:

Autocaptured events do not need to be pushed to Production. Events that are not Autocaptured, User Actions, and Event Attributes still need to be pushed to Production.
