Understand the modules in Trend Insights
The following are the modules in Trend Insights:
- Metrics
- Events
- Applications
- User filter
- User breakdown
Expand the accordions for more details.
A metric is a numerical value that measures user activity or behavior. Trend Insights uses metrics to track events and sessions.
Event metrics: Event metrics are calculated each time a user performs a specific event. There are two types of Event metrics: Total events and Unique users.
Types of event metrics
Total events: The total number of times the event occurred.
Unique users: The number of unique users who triggered the event.
Use the Event metrics to analyze engagement with Whatfix content, widgets, and applications.
Session metrics: Session metrics enable you to analyze how frequently end users engage with applications and how long they remain active across applications. Whatfix provides session metrics such as Total number of sessions and Average session time. For more information on the descriptions of the session metrics, see Analyze sessions using Trend Insights in EI.
Events serve as the core components of any Trend chart. Events are triggered when end users perform any action on the Whatfix content, widgets, or the application.
There are two types of Events:
- Guidance events
- App events
Guidance events: Guidance events include all events triggered when end users interact with Whatfix content or widgets across applications. To view the complete list of available Whatfix-related events, see List of Whatfix-related Events.
App events: App events include engagement with User Actions, other events captured using the Whatfix API, and more across applications.
Event groups: Whatfix enables you to group Guidance and App events and form an Event group. Event groups can be visualized using Trend Insights.
Applications
Trend Insights in Enterprise insights enable you to filter Whatfix content engagement and application usage across applications.
The Applications filter is not applicable for session analytics.
Example: Analyze the number of users who started Flows in Salesforce and Successfactors.
Event filters and breakdowns
Events, both Guidance and App, contain filters to narrow down events based on event properties, such as Segment Name or Content Title. Event breakdowns enable you to group and visualize the filtered events by a specific event property, such as Segment Name or Content Title.
Example: Analyze the number of users who started onboarding Flows triggered from any source across applications.
For more information on Event Filters and Breakdown, see Filter events using Event Filters and Breakdown in Trend insights for EI
User filters enable you to narrow down the data shown by applying conditions based on user properties, such as browser, operating system, city, or country.
Example: For the Flow started event, refine results to show data only for those who triggered Flows from the Chrome browser or from a specific location across applications.
For more information on User filters, see Filter Trend Insights in EI using User filters and User breakdown.
User breakdowns enable you to group and visualize the filtered data by a specific user property, such as city, browser, or OS. This changes the chart to show how different groups of users behave within the selected segment.
Example: Consider the Flow started event with User filter set as Chrome browser. Configuring the User breakdown as City, displays the chart based on all the locations from which users started Flows using Chrome browser across applications.
For more information on User breakdown, see Filter Trend Insights in EI using User filters and User breakdown.
