Note:
Autocapture is a Beta feature. Contact support@whatfix.com to enable the feature.
Introduction
Whatfix enables you to identify, track, and save Autocaptured events. Use Autocaptured events to track a process in the application.
After tracking the process using Autocaptured events, you might want to understand how many users complete the process and how many users drop-off from the process. Use Funnel Insights to track process completion and drop-offs. A Funnel is a series of sequential events that enable you to track how end users progress through a defined path in your application.
Consider that there’s a four-step process in the application that your end users interact with. You can track the end-user engagement with each step in the process using Autocaptured events. If you want to understand the number of users who complete the process or drop-off from the process, Whatfix enables you to add the Autocaptured events to Funnel Insights and visualize the required data.
Benefits of visualizing Autocaptured events using Funnels
Funnel Insights built with Autocaptured events enable you to do the following:
Identify the number of users who complete a process.
Identify the number of users who drop-off from a process.
Identify the number of users who complete a process within a specified time.
Create a Cohort of users who complete a process or drop-off from a process.
Apply User filters, such as identify the number of users who complete a process from Berlin (User filter: City) or the number of Sales Managers (User filter: Role) who drop-off from a process.
Export the data.
Use cases
Determine the number of unique users who complete a process using the Chrome browser.
Determine the number of unique users who drop off between Step 1 and Step 2 in a specific process and create a Cohort to identify the users.
Use the following steps to visualize Autocaptured events with Funnel Insights:
- On the Whatfix Analytics dashboard, click Insights.

Click Create insights.

Click Funnel Insights.

Click the Give your insight a name text box and enter a name for your Insight.

From the Select user type dropdown, choose whether to analyze data for All users, Identified users, or Anonymous users.
Note:- By default, Insights data may contain identified (users identified by User ID) and unidentified (users not identified but denoted by Anonymized Whatfix IDs) users.
- The Event identification rate indicates the percentage of events Whatfix is able to attribute to uniquely identified users.

- For more information on filtering users and understanding the Event identification rate, see How can I filter unidentified users in Insights?
Under Add funnel steps, click Add.

Click Custom events.

Select the required Autocaptured events, and then click Apply.
Note:
Ensure that you add sequential Autocaptured events in the Funnel. Add each Autocaptured event in the exact order users perform them (Step 1 → Step 2 → Step 3 → Step 4).
Funnels show data for a step based on the completion of previous steps, so the right order gives accurate data.

Note:
The following image shows the Autocaptured events added to the Funnel:

You can add application page URLs in the Funnel along with Autocaptured events to view the number of users who visit the page.

You can also add User Actions in the Funnel along with Autocaptured events. This might be required if you’ve captured any step in the process as a User Action, since Autocapture currently tracks only click events.

To filter the Funnel based on certain user properties, such as browser or country, click Add user filter.

Select the desired filter, and then click Apply.

Note:
If you want to understand the number of users who completed a Funnel within a specified time, select the completion time. For more information, see Create a Funnel.

Scroll down to view the generated data chart. For more information, see Understand Funnel data.

Note:
Change the timeframe as required. By default, Whatfix shows data for the last 7 days.

Click Summarize to generate an AI summary of the Funnel Insight. The AI Summary helps you interpret the data more easily and understand key patterns. You need to enable Ask Whatfix AI (Beta) to get the AI summary.

Click Save.

Note:
Additionally you can create a Cohort from a Funnel built using Autocaptured events to identify the users who complete or drop-off from a process.
Use the Cohorts you create from the Funnel to target Whatfix guidance content and improve process completion. For more information, see Add Cohorts as Visibility Rules.
Use the data gathered from Funnel Insights to create targeted Whatfix guidance content or drive product improvements that reduce drop‑offs and shorten completion time.
