Whatfix Content is categorized into two main types based on where and how it is created. The distinction is critical because it determines the workflow you use to build your in-app guidance.
Content Type | Creation Method | Examples |
|---|---|---|
In-app content | Purpose: To offer interactive guidance to end users with targeted content in their flow of work. Requirement: Requires access to the underlying application for element latching and content creation. Creation tool: You must use Whatfix Studio to select on-screen elements (such as buttons and fields) to create in-app content. | Flows, Smart Tips, Pop-ups, Beacons, Launchers, Blockers, and Surveys. |
Static content | Purpose: To offer additional content or reference materials within your in-app guidance content. For instance, you can attach a video to Flows. Requirement: Does not require access to the underlying application, and therefore no element selection. Creation tool: You can use either Whatfix Studio or Dashboard to create Static content based on where you create in-app guidance content. | Links, Videos, Articles, PDFs, and Images. |
