Quick Capture for FlowsAuthoring Agent

What is new?

Quick Capture Flow is designed to significantly accelerate the Flow creation process using AI. As you click on UI elements in your application, Quick Capture automatically populates the step titles and descriptions, thus converting your clicks into a well-configured and complete Flow. For more information, see What are Quick Capture Flows? and how to Create Quick Capture Flows?

  • Enables reduction in context switching, helping you to record your workflow (interactions) as you click.

  • The Enhance with AI functionality improves the content editing experience by enabling you to use your custom prompt or the built-in options for content enhancement.

Action Buttons in FlowsBeta

What is new?

Action buttons in Flow steps enable you to quickly navigate to another step or Flow using a click of a button. Branching of Flows no longer depends on the presence of a UI element on the base application screen. Using Action Buttons enables you to provide multiple options to help users advance in Flow steps. For more information, see Understand Action Buttons in Flows.

CTA example in action buttons for Flows

Why does it matter to me?

Following are the benefits of using Action Buttons in Flows:

  • Creates more versatile and user-led workflows.

  • Simplifies navigation for users by providing clear, distinct calls-to-action within the Flow's guidance.

  • Enables decision-tree scenarios, helping users select their path (for instance, "Billing Support" or "Technical Help").

  • Helps with linking other Flows or external URLs to provide additional guidance.

How do I do this?

Action Buttons in Flows is a Beta feature. Use the Sign up for Beta button to get started.

Simplified Content Authoring Experience for Smart-tips, Beacons, Launchers, and BlockersBeta

What is new?

Whatfix enables you to create and manage Smart-tips, Beacons, Launchers, and Blockers just as a content from the Content section in both Whatfix Dashboard and Whatfix Studio.

Previously, the collection Visibility Rules had to be added from the Widgets section which led to extra clicks and navigation. With the simplified experience, you do not need to go to the widgets section to add Visibility Rules, you can configure it in contents itself. This enhancement centralizes Visibility Rules, simplifies publishing to a single workflow, and removes multiple actions.

Whatfix Dashboard

Here’s a GIF that shows the migrated Smart-tips, Beacons, Launchers, and Blockers in the Content section:

Whatfix Studio

The following image displays the before and after changes for Smart-tips, Beacons, Launchers, and Blockers:

Why does it matter to me?

By merging content and its Visibility Rules into one entity, you no longer need to manage Visibility Rules separately or perform redundant publishing and movement actions. Bulk actions such as deleting, archiving, and publishing content are now a simpler, one-step process.

How do I do this?

This simplified authoring experience is a Beta feature and is coming soon.

Enhanced Content Editing Experience

What has changed?

We've made several enhancements to the content editing workflow to make it more intuitive, efficient, and consistent.

Here’s a summary of the key improvements:

  • One-Click Access to Content Cards: To simplify the interface and speed up your workflow, we have removed the View Step Details button and the Edit icon from content cards. Click anywhere on a content card, such as a step in a Flow or a Beacon in a collection—to open it directly for viewing or editing. This makes navigating and modifying content collections much faster.

  • Clearer Branch Editing Guidance: Previously, when viewing a child Flow, the Edit button was disabled without any explanation. Now, attempting to edit a child flow directly displays a clear notification that instructs you to open the parent Flow and enter edit mode from there to make changes.

  • Fix for Tab Resetting: When you are on the Details tab and click Edit, you now remain on that tab. Previously, users were redirected to the Steps tab.

  • Accurate Content Labels: To reduce confusion, content within a collection is now accurately labeled. For example, instead of seeing a generic Step 1/2 for a Beacon collection, the edit page displays the correct terminology, such as Beacon 1/2.

  • Sync to Freshdesk: The Sync to Freshdesk option is now available specifically for content that is in the Production stage on the Dashboard.

  • Flow Not Found Notification: Whatfix has restored a key validation check for branched Flows. If a step that a branch is linked to is deleted from the parent Flow, Whatfix now correctly displays a "flow not found" message. This prevents errors when editing incomplete branches.

How do I do this?

This enhancement will be available to all users without additional configurations.

The new Visibility Rules experience is available to all users GA

What is new?
The new Visibility Rules enables you to define where, when, and to whom your content and widgets appear, offering an intuitive interface and expanded targeting options for all content and widget types.

Why does it matter to me?
The new Visibility Rules help you deliver relevant guidance to specific user segments more efficiently. Configure widgets based on URL properties, page elements, user actions, enterprise or user attributes, and more. This ensures content reaches the right users at the right time, improving engagement and adoption.

The new Visibility Rules experience enables you to:

  • Display widgets based on a wide range of triggers, such as other Whatfix content, application data, elements, and more.

  • Navigate and configure rules easily using an intuitive interface with clear terminology and organized sections.

  • Segment content for various user groups through a dedicated Who section.

  • Implement advanced use cases without requiring Advanced Customization code.

How do I do this?

  • The new Visibility Rules are available to all users and apply to newly created content and widgets on both Whatfix Studio and the Whatfix Guidance Dashboard.

  • Existing content and widgets can be upgraded from the old rules to the new Visibility Rules seamlessly using either Whatfix Studio or the Whatfix Guidance Dashboard.

  • For more information, see New Visibility Rules.

Instant validation for Visibility and Element Precision rules

What is new?
Instant Validation provides real-time feedback on the new Visibility and Element Precision Rules in Studio, showing whether each rule is valid or invalid as it is added.

Why does it matter to me?
Instant Validation helps you configure Visibility and Element Precision rules faster and more accurately. Instead of repeatedly saving and previewing content to check if rules work, you can see real-time validation directly within the application context. For example, if you want to display guidance only on specific pages, Instant Validation immediately shows whether your URL or action-based rules are valid on the current page, reducing trial-and-error and ensuring precise content targeting. It also highlights which conditions fail at both the individual rule level and group level, making troubleshooting more efficient.

How do I do this?

Instant Validation is available for the new Visibility and Element Precision rules in Studio and can be enabled from the Whatfix Guidance Dashboard. For more information, see Overview of Instant Validation in Studio.

Element Reliability indicators on Studio and Dashboard

What is new?

Element Reliability indicators help you see the strength of webpage elements during content creation, ensuring accurate selection, and correct content placement.

Why does it matter to me?

When multiple similar elements exist on a page, placing content on the intended element can be challenging. If you attach content or widgets to a weak element, they might appear in the wrong location, instead of where they are intended to appear.

With Element Reliability indicators, Whatfix highlights potential issues with selected elements as you create each step, in the flow of work. You don’t need to preview the content to detect element issues. Whatfix identifies weak or unreliable elements immediately during element selection.

For example, if you are creating guidance in Salesforce and attach a tooltip to a weak input field, the indicator displays an error message instantly. This enables you to select a stronger element, ensuring that content appears in the correct place and behaves as intended. These indicators save time by helping you identify weak elements early, improving the overall reliability of your guidance across applications.

How do I do this?

Element Reliability indicators are available for all users without additional configurations. For more information, see Improve Element Selection using Element Reliability Indicators.

Contrast Check Enhancement for Fonts and Icons in Improved Self Help

What is new?

In the Header and FAB sections of Improved Self Help, when you change the background color, Whatfix automatically adjusts the Text and Icon color to ensure contrast and visibility are WCAG compliant. If you are not satisfied with this selection, you can now manually set the Text and Icon color to Light or Dark.

Set manual text and icon color for Self Help Header and FAB

Why does it matter to me?

With this enhancement, manually choose the Text and Icon color to override the default setting of Light or Dark.

How do I do this?

The Text and Icon color enhancement automatically appears on your Whatfix Guidance dashboard if your account is already enabled with the Improved Self Help experience. For more information, see the Customisations section in Configure Self Help.

Element-anchored Experience Available on Improved Self Help

What is new?

Now launch Improved Self Help from any element on your application. The element-anchored experience enables users to launch the Self Help widget from a specific UI element in your application, such as the Help button.

Launch self help by clicking on Help button

Why does it matter to me?

  • Ensures the widget appears in a consistent and predictable location for your users.

  • Display Improved Self Help to users at their point of need.

How do I do this?

To enable the element-anchored experience for Improved Self Help, contact support@whatfix.com.

Close Self Help on Click of Application

What is new?

The Close Self Help feature enables end users to minimize the Improved Self Help widget by clicking outside the widget anywhere on the underlying application.

Close self help by clicking anywhere on the application

Why does it matter to me?

Clicking anywhere on the application provides a quick and intuitive way to close the Improved Self Help widget. This makes its behavior consistent with other Whatfix content, such as Beacons, Smart Tips, Blockers, and more.

How do I do this?

To enable Close Self Help for Improved Self Help, see Close Self Help on click of application.

Whatfix Software UpdatesBeta

What is new?

Introducing–Software Release Management—a new capability that gives you complete control over when and how software updates are applied.

With this enhancement, you can:

  • Manage all software updates directly from the Whatfix Guidance Dashboard.

  • View current and available software versions for both test and production environments.

  • Preview, test, and validate new versions safely in test environments before publishing them to production.

  • Report issues directly from the Software Update page.

  • Access detailed release notes for every version to stay informed about new features, bug fixes, and improvements.

Why does it matter to me?

Previously, Whatfix automatically updated software version along with content updates, which sometimes caused Whatfix content to appear incorrectly or led to performance degradation.

With Software Release Management, you now have transparency in every update. You decide when to upgrade, test, validate your content, and then publish updates to production at your own pace.

How do I do this?

Software Release Management is a Beta feature. Use the Sign up for Beta button to get started.

For more information, see Whatfix Software Updates.

Transition from Preview Extension to Player Extension

What is new?

We’re simplifying the authoring and testing experience. Your player (production) extension can now be used for previewing and testing content, eliminating the need for multiple extensions in your workflow.

While the Preview Extension, launched in 2024, helped comply with Chrome’s MV3 restrictions for AC code testing, users often felt cluttered and confused with multiple extensions.

Why does it matter to me?

You no longer need the preview extension to test and publish content. This ensures faster, convenient, and seamless.

How do I do this?

This enhancement will be rolled out in phases starting Q4 2025.

Deprecation of the Pop-up shown eventGA

What’s changed?

Whatfix has deprecated the Pop-up shown event. To track this event create an Event group with the following events:

  • Pop-up skipped: Triggered when users skip a Pop-up.

  • URL Triggered via Pop-up: Triggered when users click a URL within a Pop-up.

  • Pop-up closed by "X" icon: Triggered when users close a Pop-up using the "X" icon.

  • Flow launched from Pop-up: Triggered when a Flow is launched directly from a Pop-up.

  • Pop-up closed by close button: Triggered when users close the Pop-up using the close button.

  • Pop-up carousel slides shown: Triggered when a carousel Pop-up slide is shown to end users. The event ensures that end-user engagement is captured on each slide of a Carousel Pop-up.

Why does it matter to me?

The new event group enables you to capture a lot more events including engagement on each carousel slide. Use the Event group you create to analyze the end-user engagement with Pop-ups.

How do I do this

Create the Event group and use it in Trend Insights to visualize the end-user engagement with Pop-ups. For more information, see What are the deprecated events in Guidance Analytics?
