Article summary

The content that you create and save on Whatfix needs to be pushed to the Whatfix CDN servers before it is available to your users. You may be able to see the content using the Preview mode or the See Live option (during content creation), but for the content to go live and reflect on your end user's application, you must publish the content and widgets.

Note:

Only an Account Manager can perform the following task. For more information about available roles, see Whatfix User Roles.

Publish Whatfix content and widgets to Production

Use the following steps to publish all Whatfix content and widgets to Production:

  1. On the Whatfix Guidance dashboard, go to the Ready stage.
    clm_db_ready_stage_select

Info:

Ensure all the content and widgets you want to go live are moved from the Draft stage to the Ready stage.

Select the content you want to move, and then click Send to ready.

  1. To push all the content and widgets to production, click Publish all.
    clm_db_publish_all1

Note:

Whatfix enables you to review and publish selective content, widgets, User actions, style, Advanced customisation, and repository links to Production. For more information, see Selective Publishing.

  1. On the Publish changes dialog box, review and select the content and other changes that you want to publish.

Note:

You cannot unselect Advanced customisation, Whatfix improvements, and bug fixes. These are mandatory changes that go live when you publish content.

  1. Add a note to inform stakeholders about the changes you are about to publish. This is optional.

  2. Click Publish.
    clm_db_click_publish

Note:

  • Whatfix enables you to push selective content and widgets to Production. In the Ready stage, select the content or widget you want to push to Production, and then click Publish.
    db_clm_publish

  • This action only publishes the selected content or widgets. Use the Publish all button to publish Styles and User actions.

Note:

  • When the process is complete, you receive a notification email.

  • The Push to Production usually takes only a few minutes. However, depending on your deployment method, there may be a delay before end users see the updated content.

  • The time it takes for content and widgets to appear for your end users varies by deployment type:

    - Whatfix Store deployments: Updates typically reflect within a few minutes after content is pushed.

    - Extension-based deployments:  Updates may take up to 30 minutes to appear. This time may vary depending on where the extension is hosted, such as the Chrome Web Store, Microsoft Store, or another store.

Note:

  • You will not be able to push content that has dependent content that's not already live. For example, Smart Tips or Beacons that have a link to a Flow cannot be pushed to Production if the dependent Flow isn't already live. This prevents a broken user experience. For more information, see Can I move Contents or Widgets that are attached to another Content or Widget across stages?

  • For Self Help and Task List, Whatfix publishes segments to the Production stage even if there is dependent content in the Draft or the Ready stages. However, in such cases, the dependent content won’t appear inside the segments until those units are moved to the Production stage.
