Step configuration refers to the customization settings that can be applied to individual tooltips within a Flow or Smart Tip, or User Actions. For example, you can configure a step to have a longer timeout duration if the selected element takes longer to load or appears dynamically on the page. Or, you might adjust the retry count and delay interval to account for potential network latency or fluctuations in page responsiveness.
Whatfix enables you to set the following Step Configurations:
Tip Recheck Count: This property is applied to individual tooltips. When Whatfix tries to display a tooltip, it needs to identify the selected element on the webpage. However, sometimes this identification might fail initially due to various reasons like page load delays or dynamic content changes. The Tip Recheck Count property determines how many times Whatfix should attempt to find the element before giving up. Increasing this count can be beneficial in scenarios where elements take longer to load or when there are intermittent issues with element detection. For instance, if you set Tip Recheck Count to 25, Whatfix will make 25 attempts to find the element before considering it as unavailable.
UA Property Retry Gap: This property regulates the time interval between retry attempts when Whatfix is trying to find an element on which a User Action is created. By default, Whatfix waits for 500 milliseconds between each retry attempt. However, in some cases, you might want to increase or decrease this interval based on the specific characteristics of your web application. Adjusting this property lets you fine-tune the balance between responsiveness and resource usage for User Actions. For example, setting UA Property Retry Gap to 2000 milliseconds would mean that Whatfix waits for 2 seconds between each retry attempt.
UA Recheck Count: This property regulates the number of times User Actions are evaluated to find the selected element on which the User Action is created. For example, when a user performs an action, such as clicking a button, Whatfix needs to locate the corresponding element to proceed with User Action. Similar to Tip Recheck Count, increasing the UA Recheck Count can be beneficial in scenarios where elements take longer to load or when there are intermittent issues with element detection. For instance, setting UA Recheck Count to 20 means that Whatfix will evaluate the user action up to 20 times before considering it as unsuccessful.
