Whatfix enables you to embed videos in Self Help irrespective of whether they are created by Whatfix using a Flow or were generated using third-party applications.
-
Whatfix videos: Videos created by Whatfix using Flows when the Video Channel is configured in your account.
-
Non-Whatfix videos: Videos created using a video editor and stored in your account in Google Drive, Dropbox, YouTube, Vimeo, etc.
When the end users click a video content in Self Help, a pop-up opens and the video is played inside the pop-up as shown below.
To embed Whatfix Videos,
- You need to have your video platform configured before you can proceed with the steps below.
- When configuring the video channel, if the visibility is set to private then videos won't play after embedding.
Use the following steps to embed Whatfix Videos
-
Navigate to the Whatfix Dashboard.
-
Navigate to the Flow, the video output of which you want to add to Self Help.
-
Click the Embed option.
-
From the dropdown, click Video.
-
Click the Copy iFrame button.
-
Paste the copied iFrame code in a text editor.
-
Delete everything except the video URL as shown below.
-
Add https: before the edited URL.
-
On the Whatfix Dashboard, navigate to Widgets.
-
Click Self Help.
-
Select the desired segment.
-
Under Create, select Video.
-
Enter the Title of the video and the URL from Step 8, and then click Save.
If you have enabled Smart Context, all content created on your application is auto tagged. However, static content (text, video, and links) is not created on your application and you must add the global-page tag to display such content in the Self Help widget on your application. To tag content, see Adding Tags to content
If the tag doesn't work on your account, contact Whatfix Support at [email protected]
- To save the segment, click Save again
To embed Non-Whatfix Videos

Navigate to the Whatfix Dashboard.
-
Click Widgets.
-
Click the Self Help tile.
-

-
The URL that is entered in the Video Link is a little different depending on where your video is sourced from. Click one of the links below to continue.
- In the new window, click the vertical ellipsis icon and then click Share.
- Set the video permission to Anyone with the link and then click Done.
- Click the vertical ellipsis icon and then click Embed item.
