Creating a Smart Tip is a two-step process.
Step 2: Configure the segment for the Smart Tip
Step 1: Create the Smart Tip
-
Navigate to the application where you want to create content, and then on the Whatfix Editor, click Smart Tips.
-
Enter a name for the Smart Tip Collection.
-
A Smart Tip Collection is a group of Smart Tips belonging to the same page.
-
The Smart Tip Collection name is solely for your (creator's) reference and is not visible to the user.
-
Click the + Tip button to create a new Smart Tip.
-
Select an element on the application that you would like the Smart Tip to point to.
-
Enter the description for the Smart Tip. You can also add a more detailed optional description (for eg. to specify the rules of an input field).
-
Click Add Tip.
To add more Smart Tips, click +Tip on the Editor and repeat steps 4 to 6.
-
After all the Smart Tips are created, on the Whatfix toolbar, click Maximize .
-
Click the Save button.
Once you have created the Smart Tip collection, a segment is automatically created on your Whatfix dashboard.
Step 2: Configure the Segment for the Smart Tip.
If your account is Smart Context enabled, then the Visibility Rules are configured automatically and all you need to do is activate the segment as shown in step 8. For more information, see Smart Context.
-
Navigate to the Whatfix Dashboard.
-
Click Widgets.
-
Navigate to Smart Tips.
-
Navigate to the auto-created segment. The segment name is the Smart Tip collection name. Click the Edit icon.
-
Expand the Set Visibility Rules section and set up your visibility rules that determine the display of the Smart Tip collection. See Visibility and Display Rule Conditions for more information on the different conditions that can be used in visibility rules.
-
Add the collection that you created above.
-
Click Save.
-
On the segment page, activate the segment.
- Position the Smart Tip carefully so that no other important information or element is hidden.
- To create a sequence of Smart Tips, all the tips must be on the same page. If Smart Tips are to be used for multiple pages, separate segments need to be created for each individual page.
