Scheduling Pop-ups

To enable more control on your announcements and alerts, Whatfix enables you to schedule Pop-ups to appear for a specified time and set them up on a recurring setting.

Pop-ups can be scheduled by one or more of the following:

  • Start date
  • End date
  • Time zone
  • Number of occurrences over a period of time

A few Example Use Cases are listed below.

Use the following steps to schedule a Pop-up,

  1. Navigate to the Whatfix Dashboard.

  2. In the left pane, click Widgets.

  3. Click the Pop-ups tile.

  4. Create a new Pop-up using + New Pop-up or edit the existing Pop-up using the Edit button.

  5. Enter a name and content for the Pop-up and click the Set Visibility Rules → button.

  • Click the Save button to save and mark the Pop-up as an inactive draft. You can resume editing by clicking the Edit icon.
  1. Click the When tab.

  2. Use the Start On and Ends On fields to set the start date and the end date.

  3. To set the start time and the end time, use the Select Time fields

Note
  • When configuring the Start On and Ends On dates, it is mandatory to set the time duration for the Pop-up to appear on the selected dates.
  • The Pop-up appears only between the set time duration on the selected dates. For example, if you set the start time at 08:00 and the end time at 21:00, then for the selected dates, the Pop-up would appear between 08:00 and 21:00 every day until the end date.
  1. In the Time Zone field, select the time zone you want the Start On and Ends On settings to follow. If your users are from different time zones, click the Use Local Time checkbox.

Note

This converts the Start On and Ends On settings based on your local time zone, and the Pop-up is shown accordingly.

  1. Select the Frequency to show the Pop-up.

  2. Click Finish Later or Activate, depending on your preference.

    • Finish Later - Saves the pop-up as Draft and marks it Inactive.
    • Activate - Marks the pop-up as Active and publishes it. Your end-users can see the pop-up based on your Visibility Rules.

Example Use Cases

Display a Pop-up every time a user logs in - forever

When configuring the Visibility Rule,

1. Do not select Start On and Ends On date.

3. Under Repeat: section, select Until.
4. Enter a large number, for example, 99999.

Note

If you want to stop showing the Pop-Up, deactivate the Pop-Up segment.

Display a Pop-up every time a user logs in, but only for a particular time frame

When configuring the Visibility Rule,

1. Use the Start On and Ends On fields to set the start and end date for your pop-up. The Pop-Up appears only during this time frame.

2. Select the Time Zone you want the Start On and End On settings to follow.
3. Under Repeat: section, select Until.
4. Enter a large number, for example, 99999.

Display a Pop-up only the first time a user logs in

When configuring the Visibility Rule,

1. Use the Start On and Ends On fields to set the start and end date for your Pop-Up. The Pop-Up appears only during this time frame.

2. Select the Time Zone you want the Start On and Ends On settings to follow.
3. Under Repeat: section, select Custom.
4. Select Once Daily from the drop-down menu.

Display a Pop-up only on particular days of a week

When configuring the Visibility Rule,

1. Use the Start On and End On fields to set the start and end date for your Pop-Up. The Pop-Up appears only during this time frame.

Note

If you want to show Pop-Up forever, do not select Start On and Ends On date.

2. Select the Time Zone you want the Start On and End On settings to follow.
3. Under Repeat: section, select Custom.
4. Select Select Days from the dropdown.

Note

The Pop-up appears only once when using the Select Days option.

5. Select the days you want to show the Pop-up and click Done.

Display a Pop-up only once a week

When configuring the Visibility Rule,

1. Use the Start On and Ends On fields to set the start and end date for your pop-up. The Pop-Up appears only during this time frame.

2. Select the Time Zone you want the Start On and End On settings to follow.
3. Under Repeat: section, select Custom.
4. Select Once a Week from the drop-down menu.

A new week starts from Sunday by default.

5. Click Finish Later or Activate.

Display a Pop-up only once a month

When configuring the Visibility Rule,

1. Use the Start On and Ends On fields to set the start and end date for your Pop-Up. The Pop-Up appears only during this time frame.

4. Select Once a Month from the drop-down menu.
