When creating a flow, there may be some steps that are required only by some users. For example, some desktop applications like Microsoft Teams and SAP auto-log in their users during subsequent visits. Thus, instructions to sign in or sign up might apply only to first-time users.
These steps that are required only for certain users can be declared optional when creating a Flow. So, when users who don't need to perform those steps trigger a Flow, they do not see the optional steps at all.
Optional steps ensure that the user experience is not broken because of different possible scenarios. Optional steps are skipped when those pages or elements are not displayed to a certain set of users thus ensuring continuity of the Flow for all kinds of scenarios. If the user is already logged in to the application, they are not shown the Tooltip for the login screen while those users who have not logged in, see the steps to log in.
Use the following steps to make a step optional:

Open the desktop application where you would like to create the Flow and then launch the Whatfix Desktop Studio.

Click Flow.

Enter the name of the Flow as you want it displayed to the users.

Click + Add Step.

Click the desired element on the page that the user needs to select.

Click the ADVANCED OPTIONS tab.

To enable optional step, under More Options, use the Make this an optional step toggle button.

Click Save Step to finish creating the step, and then continue creating the Flow.
