Always start a Flow from step 1

Article Summary

Whatfix enables you to configure certain Flows to always start from the first step no matter where the user is on your application. This helps you guide your end users better.

When this feature is enabled for a specific Flow, Smart Context gets overridden. This means that even if the user is not on the first screen of the Flow, instead of starting the Flow from the most relevant page that the user is on, the Flow is prompted from step 1.

Note

This feature works only if the first step of the Flow is placed on a global element, that is, an element which is present across pages. In case you enable this feature for Flows where the first step is not on a global element, then the Flow breaks.

Use Cases

You can enable the feature for specific Flows in the following cases:

  • When you have an onboarding Flow created across different tabs of your application and you don't want your end users to skip any steps.
  • When the Flow steps are dependent on each other, where steps 3 and 4 on a particular page depend on the actions the user takes in steps 1 and 2 on the previous page of the application. For such Flows, if the user needs assistance at step 3 and is launching the Flow, Whatfix starts the Flow from the first step taking them to the first page of the Flow.
