Change where the Self help Live Chat Opens

Whatfix enables you to integrate Self Help with your existing live chat application. The live chat, once enabled, is an icon inside Self Help. The chat icon is automatically displayed when your user search does not return any results. The user can click the chat icon to get redirected to your live chat provider. For more information, see Enable live chat when Self Help search result is empty.

By default, your chat application is opened in a new tab. However, you can specify where you want to open the live chat using the following steps:

  1. On the Whatfix Guidance dashboard, click Settings.

  2. Click Advanced customisation.

  3. Click Technical configuration.

  4. Click Add preferences.

  1. Click Self Help.

  2. Select the Support Chat Target checkbox.

  3. Click Add.

  4. In the Support Chat Target Value field, enter your desired HTML target attribute to specify where you want to open the live chat. For example, use the _top attribute to open the live chat in the same tab.
