Anchor to Page is a Beta feature. To enable the feature, contact support@whatfix.com.

Overview

Anchor to Page enables you to keep your content fixed on the screen, irrespective of the end user’s scrolling actions. When you anchor content to the page, it stays fixed in a consistent position relative to the viewport, such as the top, bottom, or side of the screen. While it is commonly used for elements that remain visible and fixed in place, such as headers, it can be applied to any part of the screen where the content remains fixed as the user scrolls. This ensures that any Whatfix content, such as a Smart Tip, Beacon, Flow tooltip, or Launcher, remains visible and accessible throughout the user’s interaction with the application.

Consider a Smart Tip that provides additional information about the header elements of an application. Without anchoring, the Smart Tip moves or jumps with the page scroll. Anchoring this Smart Tip to a fixed element, such as the header of the page, ensures it remains in a fixed position and does not scroll out of view.

Here’s how the Smart Tip looks without being anchored to the page:

When to use Anchor to Page?

  • Fixed position for widgets: When the Whatfix widget moves or jumps along with the page scroll, especially when it's attached to a fixed element such as a header or footer, and you want it to stay in a fixed location, always visible and accessible.

  • Call-to-action buttons: Anchor prominent call-to-action buttons to encourage users to take specific actions.

  • Persistent notifications: For tips or alerts that need to stay visible at all times, regardless of scrolling.

Use the following steps to anchor any content to a page:

  1. Create content using Whatfix Studio or edit the content using the Dashboard that you want to anchor.

  2. On Studio, click the ADVANCED OPTIONS tab.

  3. In the More Options section, enable Anchor to Page toggle.

    • Ensure that you select only one anchoring option based on your requirement. If both Anchor to Element and Anchor to Page are enabled for a content, the Anchor to Page toggle is automatically disabled, and the content behaves as if it were anchored only to the element.

    • Ensure that the element you're anchoring to is visible on the page. If the element is hidden or removed, the anchored content also disappears.

  4. Continue creating or editing the content as needed.

  5. Click Save.
