Web applications like Facebook, Gmail, ZenDesk, and Whatfix automatically log in their users during subsequent visits. Thus, instructions to sign in or sign up may apply only to first-time users. Steps to log in can be declared optional when creating a flow.
Optional steps ensure that the user experience is not broken because of different possible scenarios. Optional steps are skipped when those pages or elements are not displayed to a certain set of users thus ensuring continuity of the flow for all kinds of scenarios. So if the user is already logged in to the application, they are not shown the tooltip for the login screen while those users who have not logged in, see the step to log in.
Use the following steps to make a step optional:

Log in to the application where you want to create content, and then launch the Whatfix Studio.

Click Flow.

Enter the name of the Flow as you want it displayed to the users.

Click + Add Step.

Click the desired element on the page that the user needs to select.

Click the ADVANCED OPTIONS tab.

To enable optional step, under More Options, use the Make this an optional step toggle button.

Click Save Step to finish creating the step, and then continue creating the Flow.
