Launch a Popup from a Self Help

Consider that you have a Self Help segment where you want to highlight new features in an engaging way without interrupting the user experience. You want to use a Carousel Pop-up that appears only when users choose to view it, ensuring a non-intrusive experience. Each Carousel slide includes a brief introduction and the key benefits of the feature, helping users understand what's new.

Here’s how you can achieve this use case.

Step 1: Create an empty Flow on the page you want to show the Pop-up

Step 1: Create an empty Flow on the page you want to show the Pop-up

Consider that you want to show the Pop-up on your application's landing page. Create an empty Flow on that page and title it appropriately, as this title appears in the Self Help. The Flow should be set to fail. It means that although the Flow never shows up, Whatfix recognizes that a Flow was run on the page and enables you to display any widget linked to it.

Use the following steps to create an empty Flow:

1. Create the Flow using Whatfix Studio.

2. Select any element on the screen. Since it is just an empty Flow, it doesn’t matter what element you select.

3. In the Advanced Options section, add the following Display Rule:

   Selected Element Is → CSS Selector → empty

Step 2: Create a Pop-up

Create the Pop-up as required. For more information on how to create a Pop-up, see Create a Pop-up.

Step 3: Link the Pop-up with the Flow

Once you have created the Pop-up, use the following steps to link it with the Flow:

1. In the Visibility rules section for your Pop-up, click When does the pop up start and stop appearing?
   
   

2. From the What causes the pop up to appear? dropdown, select Events related to Whatfix content.
   
   

   Note:

   When the Events related to Whatfix content condition is selected, all other Visibility Rules become unavailable.

3. From the Content type dropdown, select Flow.
   

4. Click Content.
   
   
   

5. Select the Flow that you created.
   
   

6. Click Add.
   
   
   

7. From the Event dropdown, select Before the flow starts.
   
   
   

8. Click Save.

   
   

9. Make any other edits as required in the Pop-up, then click Save.

Step 4: Add the Flow in the Self Help

Add the empty Flow in the Self Help segment from where you want to launch the Pop-up. For more information, see Add a Flow to Self Help. Whenever the end user clicks the Flow in the Self Help, the Pop-up opens up on the same page.
