Introduction
Whatfix provides out-of-the-box Analytics for Whatfix Mirror that shows usage and engagement-related data in easy-to-understand visual formats like the number of users who launched the Mirror from the Task List, the number of users dropping off without completing the Mirror, and more.
However, you might want to create a custom report that shows data based on your business needs. For example:
Track the number of users who launched a Mirror Workflow from the Chrome browser.
Track the number of users who launched and successfully completed the process.
Benefits of Trend Insights
Eliminate the need for third-party applications and save time to create custom reports.
Drill down data at a user level.
Draw detailed and in-depth reports on each content type.
Understand the modules of Trend Insights
Trend Insights are built using four main modules:
Metrics
Events
User filter
User breakdown

A metric is a numerical value that measures user activity or behavior. Trend Insights uses metrics to track events and sessions.
Event metrics: Event metrics are calculated each time a user performs a specific event. There are two types of Event metrics: Total events and Unique users.
Types of event metrics:
Total events: The total number of times the event occurred.
Unique users: The number of unique users who triggered the event.
Note:
Use the Event metrics to analyze engagement with Whatfix content, widgets, and the application.
Session metrics: Session metrics enable you to analyze how frequently end users engage with your application and how long they remain active in the application. Whatfix provides session metrics such as Total number of sessions and Average session time. For more information on the descriptions of the session metrics, see Analyze sessions using Trend Insights.
Events serve as the core components of any Trend chart. Events are triggered when end users perform any action on the Whatfix content, widgets, or the application.
There are two types of Events:
Guidance events
App events
Guidance events: Guidance events include all events triggered when end users interact with Whatfix content or widgets within the application. To view the complete list of available Whatfix-related events, see List of Whatfix-related Events.
App events: App events include engagement with User Actions, other events captured using the Whatfix API, and more.
Event groups: Whatfix enables you to group Guidance and App events and form an Event group. Event groups can be visualized using Trend Insights.
Event filters and breakdowns
Events, both Guidance and App, contain filters to narrow down events based on event properties, such as Segment Name or Content Title. Event breakdowns enable you to group and visualize the filtered events by a specific event property, such as Segment Name or Content Title.
Example: Analyze the number of users who completed a Flow called Onboarding triggered from any source.
Events
Events are triggered when your end users launch Whatfix Mirror.
User filter
Using the User filter module, limit the scope of the events based on different criteria. For example, for the Mirror start event, refine the results to show data only of those users who launched it from the Chrome browser or from a specific location.
For more information on User filters, see User Filters and User Breakdown in Insights.
User breakdown
Using the User Breakdown module, display data based on the various properties. For example, for Mirror completed event with User filter set as Chrome browser, configuring the Breakdown as City, displays the chart based on the location from where the Mirror was completed by users using Chrome browser.
For more information on User Breakdown, see User Filters and User Breakdown in Insights.
Note:
For more information on Event Filters and Breakdown, see Filter events using Event Filters and Breakdown in Trend insights.
User Filter
User filters enable you to narrow down the data shown by applying conditions based on user properties, such as browser, operating system, city, or country.
Example: For the Flow start event, refine results to show data only for those who triggered it from the Chrome browser or from a specific location.
For more information on User filters, see User filters and User breakdown in Insights.
User breakdown
User breakdowns enable you to group and visualize the filtered data by a specific user property, such as city, browser, or OS. This changes the chart to show how different groups of users behave within the selected segment.
Example: Consider the Flow completed event with User filter set as Chrome browser. Configuring the User breakdown as City, displays the chart based on the location from which users completed the Flow using Chrome browser.
Use Case
The following is a simple use case with Trend Insights:
Analyze the number of users who started a Mirror using Chrome browser from any country
The chart displays the number of users who launched Mirror in Chrome browser and are grouped based on the country they launched the Mirror from.
Add the following event, filter, and breakdown in your Event Setup module to get this report.
Event: Workflow Started
User filter: Browser = Chrome
User Breakdown: Country

Analyze the number of users who visited the Mirror page using Chrome browser from any country
The chart displays the number of users who launched Mirror in Chrome browser and are grouped based on the country they launched the specific Mirror screen from.Add the following event, filter, and breakdown in your Event Setup module to get this report.
Event: Workflow Completed
User filter: Browser = Chrome
User Breakdown: Country
