What are Closing Retries?
Closing Retries determine the number of retries or attempts Whatfix makes to find the selected element before deciding to fail the Flow. This is useful in situations where Whatfix is waiting for a specific event to occur, such as loading a new page, encountering a redirect, or waiting for a page to refresh. For example, consider that you have an automated link checker tool that is navigating through a series of web pages to check for broken links. After each page is done, you show a Flow step telling users to click scan on the next page. However, due to network issues or server delays, the next page might not load immediately. In such cases, enabling Closing Retries enables Whatfix to wait for the new page multiple times before failing the Flow.
Use the following steps to set Closing Retries for all Flows:
-
On the Whatfix Guidance dashboard, click Settings.
-
Click Advanced customisation.
-
Click Technical configuration.
-
Click Add preferences.
-
Click Flows.
-
Select the Closing Retries checkbox.
-
Click Add.
-
In the Closing Retries Value field, enter the desired value.
-
Click Save.
