Cues are contextual, just-in-time nudges that appear within your end users' flow of work to guide them toward the next steps. They provide guidance that supports the user's task without interrupting their workflow or blocking the screen.
Cues bring AI directly into the user's workflow, showing the next actions and proactive guidance at the exact moment the end user needs support.
Why Use Submit a Prompt Action in Cues?
Users rely on AI tools to complete tasks such as summarizing information, drafting responses, or generating insights. A Cue can nudge users to use these AI tools at the right moment in their workflow.
Previously, guiding users to use an AI tool required creating a separate automated Flow for each prompt. This approach introduced several challenges, such as:
Increased content creation effort: A new Flow was needed for every prompt.
Higher maintenance overhead: Each Flow had to be created and maintained separately.
Limited scalability: The number of Flows increased with the number of prompts.
To simplify this process, Whatfix introduced the Submit a Prompt action in Cues.
With this capability:
You can create a single reusable automated Flow.
Multiple Cues can reference the same Flow but use different prompts.
You define the prompt directly in the Cue, eliminating the need to create a new Flow for each prompt.
This approach reduces content creation and management effort while delivering context-specific AI assistance.
How does Submit Prompt action work in Cues?
The Submit Prompt action links a Cue to an automated Whatfix Flow.
When the end user clicks the Cue button, the following happens:
The selected Automated Flow starts immediately.
The Flow performs the configured automated steps.
At the designated Auto-input step, Whatfix replaces the default input text in the Flow with the prompt defined in the Cue.
The Flow continues executing the remaining automated actions.
Because prompts are defined at the Cue level, the same Flow can execute different prompts across multiple Cues. This enables Flow reuse while providing context-specific guidance to end users.
Use Case:
The following GIF shows a Cue nudging users in Microsoft Dynamics 365 to close overdue opportunities. When users click the button in the Cue button, it triggers an automated Flow that opens Copilot, inserts a predefined prompt, and instantly provides insights to help them take action. If users overlook overdue opportunities, the Cue appears at the right moment to guide them.

Prerequisites for configuring the Submit Prompt action in Cues
Before configuring a Submit Prompt action, ensure the Flow meets the following requirements:
Create the Flow using the Automated option. For more information, see Flow Automation. This configuration enables the Flow steps to execute automatically when triggered from a Cue.
The Flow must contain at least one step configured with the following rules:
Step Completion Rule: Automated
Auto Execute Action: Auto Input
Whatfix identifies the last Auto-input step in the Flow and replaces its default text with the prompt you define in the Cue.
Configure appropriate automation rules for the Flow steps, such as:
Auto Click
Auto Input
Auto Next
These rules ensure that the Flow executes without requiring manual interaction from the end user.
