Article Summary

Overview

Auto Tip Execution enables you to auto-select, trigger, and execute important actions without depending on your end user to interact with the Tip. For example, you can choose to auto-click an element that redirects the end user to the relevant page or auto-populate a field with pre-defined values to ease the user's task.

Auto-Tip Execution can be used to:

  • Trigger clicks and redirect end users to a relevant page in an application.
  • Display important information related to a specific element, without requiring end user interaction with the element.
  • Reduce end user errors by automatically populating important sections of a form.

Use Cases

Improvements to the Auto Input field

You can auto-populate a descriptive template for your end users to fill in even if the input expected from your user is more than a sentence. For example, let's say you want to collect brief information about a recent closed sales deal in the description field. You provide a starting point for your end users by letting them know your expectation from them when the Tip is triggered.

Improved element selection to support Auto-execution

Whatfix provides a validation message to the content creator during the creation and while editing Smart Tips, if the selected element is not suitable for the selected auto execution. The content creator is notified to re-select another element.

Auto Tip Execution options Description
Auto Click This option is used when you want to automatically trigger a click for a certain element on the application.
For example, you can auto-click certain elements so the user is automatically redirected to the relevant page of the application.
Note
The Auto Click does not display the Smart Tip but clicks the selected element automatically to redirect the user to the relevant page.
Auto Hover This option displays the Smart Tip without the user selecting or hovering the cursor on the element it is attached to.
For example, you can use Auto Hover to display important information on the page that needs your end user's attention.
An Auto Hover Smart Tip loads automatically as the page loads.
Note
The Auto Hover only works when the Smart Tip is set to appear On Hover/Focus over the element
Auto Input This option auto-enters a pre-defined value that you want your user to enter in a form field. This value is auto-filled when the Smart Tip is triggered.
For example, you can auto-input form fields that require generic inputs, like dates.
Auto Select This option is used to select a value from several available options in a dropdown menu.
Like auto input, you can use auto select to select certain options for a field in which you don't want the user to put anything else.
In this case, when the user lands on the specified page, the fields are pre-filled in the selected element according to what you have selected when creating the Smart Tip.
Your title goes here
  • The dropdown menu may not appear on the Studio for certain applications.
  • If the dropdown menu does not appear on the Studio, ensure that the value to be selected is typed in the Auto Select section exactly as it is seen in the menu. The text is case sensitive.
