Article summary

Advanced Customization enables you to fine-tune Whatfix configurations and behavior according to your unique needs. Some examples include: critical system functionalities, such as identifying language or user role, and triggering Whatfix content based on specific scenarios.

Whatfix enables you to view and customize advanced configurations in the following sections:

Code editor: The Code editor section enables you to add code snippets and execute advanced actions in Whatfix.

Technical configuration: The Technical configuration section enables specific system configurations, initially set using code, to be configured directly on your dashboard at a global level. This centralized control enables you to configure settings for specific content or widgets, change behavior for Whatfix Analytics, and more. These modifications can be applied universally across your entire Whatfix deployment.

User identification: The User identification section enables you to add custom rules for user identification directly using the Whatfix user interface. By defining specific criteria and conditions, segment user experiences based on roles, preferences, or other critical parameters, creating a more user-centric environment.

Locale identication: The Locale identification section enables you to add custom rules to identify your user locale and language preferences directly using the Whatfix user interface. Configure Whatfix to adapt to your language preferences and provide a localized experience to your end users.

Custom Variables: Capture and store information from your base application, such as element text, storage values, cookies, and window variables and reuse it across different content and widgets. Custom variables enable you to fetch a value once and reuse it across content and widgets, auto-fill a specific field in your application based on an element's text, and personalize content based on attributes associated with the end user.

Note:
  • Custom Variables is a Beta feature. To enable the feature, contact support@whatfix.com.

  • If you have the Custom Variables feature enabled, User Identification and Locale identification configurations are displayed under the User rules tab.
