When you try to position Whatfix content such as Beacon, Smart Tip, or Launcher on an element of the application, the content may be mispositioned. The Beacon, Smart Tip, or Launcher may not be latched to the right element and as a result, the positioning of the content varies.
The following are a few issues that you may encounter with positioning the Whatfix content:
Issue
Beacon, Smart Tip, or Launcher overlapping with the elements of the underlying application.
Probable Cause
A Beacon, Smart Tip, or Launcher may overlap with the underlying element when the screen resolution or zoom level changes. As a result of the change in the screen resolution, the height and width of the element that you have selected may also change.
Suggested Solution
While positioning a Beacon, Smart Tip, or Launcher, select a smaller element whose height and width won't change even if the screen resolution is changed.
Flexible positioning relies on factors like the height, width, and position of the selected element. When there is a variation in the screen resolution or zoom level, the selected element's height and width may also change. As a result, the Beacon, Smart Tip, or Launcher attached to that element may overlap with the elements of the underlying application. So, Whatfix recommends you select an element whose dimensions such as height and width don't change regardless of the change in the screen resolution.
Issue
Beacon, Smart Tip, or Launcher latches to different positions of the selected element when the content is selected to appear on a particular location of the element.
Probable Causes
A Beacon may not appear in the selected position because of the following reasons:
- Variation in the screen resolution
- Wrong Display Rules have been added
Suggested Solution
When selecting an element, ensure that you select the correct element and add the appropriate Display Rules for the respective element.
For more information on Display Rules, see Visibility and Display Rule Conditions.
While creating a Beacon, Smart Tip, or Launcher, if you select an element and add the Display Rules of another element, then the Beacon may get latched to a different element rather than the selected element. To position the Beacon, Smart Tip, or Launcher correctly, ensure that you add the correct Display Rules for the element you have selected.
