Applications undergo changes at regular intervals. When an underlying element of an application changes, there are chances that the Whatfix content created on that element might fail as Whatfix won't be able to detect the updated element. To provide end users with a smooth application experience, Whatfix aids Content Creators with their application updates.
Whatfix’s element detection capability handles minor changes within the application. It is only when there are major changes within the application that Whatfix is unable to detect the elements and failures occur.
Whatfix supports application updates for the following out-of-the-box applications:
- Salesforce
- Oracle HCM
- Icertis
- Workday
- MS Dynamics 365
- SAP Successfactors
- Bullhorn
Whatfix Change Management Process for Out-of-the-Box Applications
Whenever an out-of-the-box application releases a new feature or an update, Whatfix takes the following steps to aid the process,
- Access - Whatfix gets access to the updated version of the Out-of-the-box application.
- Impact Analysis - Whatfix analyzes the changes within the application to identify which elements and spaces inside the application may be impacted.
- Auto Update - Whatfix tries to auto-update the existing content to ensure that the content works on the updated version of the application.
- Analysis Report - If Whatfix is not able to auto-update content, we send the list of impacted content (Flows, Smart Tips, Beacons, etc.), along with the step number that needs to be re-selected.
Content Creators then have to manually edit the content by re-selecting the elements.
Whatfix Change Management Process for Custom Applications
For helping Content Creators with change management for custom applications, Whatfix recommends using Auto Testing - an automated testing capability that can be configured to test your content at regular, configurable intervals. You can schedule a test run each time you release a new feature or an application update, and Whatfix proactively tests your content for you.
For more information, see Auto Testing.
Currently, Auto Testing is only available for Flows.
