- The Improved Self Help displays both New and Updated content notifications by default.
- The old Self Help displays only New content notifications.
Explorer helps ensure that relevant information, such as Flows, articles, or repository links, is easily accessible to users. To keep users informed about additions or changes to the content in the Self Help widget, Explorer marks content with New or Updated badges. The badges appear directly in the segment’s default listing, which helps users easily identify what has changed since their last visit to the Self Help widget.
How does the New and Updated content notifications work?
The notifications work at a segment level and are user-specific. When content in a segment is added or modified, Explorer checks whether the user has already seen the content based on their last visit to the Self Help widget.
When do the New and Updated badges appear?
The badges appear in the following scenarios:
- The New badge appears when a content item is created and published for the first time.
- The Updated badge appears when existing content undergoes the following modifications:
- Articles: when the title or description changes.
- Images, videos, PDFs, and links: when the title or URL changes.
- Flows: when the title, step description, URL, or step completion rules change.
The New and Updated badges remain visible for each user until:
- They click the content marked with a badge.
- Seven days pass since the badge appears.
Configure the visibility duration by contacting support@whatfix.com.
The New and Updated badges do not appear when a user accesses Explorer for the first time. Since all content is considered new during that visit, badges start appearing only for content added or updated after the user’s first visit to the Self Help widget.
Personalized content also displays the New and Updated badges when relevant changes occur.
Groups in Explorer show a badge based on the new and updated content they contain. Moving content between groups does not trigger a badge.
New versions of the existing content are not considered as new content.
Updating the Search Scope of a segment does not affect badge visibility.
Archiving and restoring content can display a New badge if the user has not seen it before. It happens because Explorer saves all visible, non-archived content locally during the user's visit. If the restored content is not part of that saved data, it is treated as new when shown later.
