Issue:

When creating a Flow, you may need to select an item in a drop-down menu. However, after expanding the menu, when you click + Step, the drop-down closes, and you can no longer capture the element you wanted to capture.

Solution:

Whatfix has shortcut keys that you can use to initiate capture so that the drop-down menu remains open. The following keyboard shortcuts can be used to capture the element.

Note

Before using the shortcuts on the drop-down element, click an area on the application to make the window active.

  • To insert Step Before: CTRL + SHIFT + Z
  • To insert Step After: CTRL + SHIFT + X
  • To reselect an Element: CTRLl + SHIFT + E

Using these shortcuts is an alternative to clicking the + Step in the Whatfix Editor.

  • Keyboard shortcuts are the same for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
  • Currently, Whatfix does not support element selection on drop-downs in HTML-based applications.
