Issue: When creating a walkthrough you may need to select an item in a drop-down menu. However, after expanding the menu, when you click on + Step, the drop-down closes and you are no longer able to capture the element that you wanted to capture.

Solution:
Whatfix has shortcut keys that you can use to initiate capture so that the drop-down menu remains open. The following keyboard shortcuts can be used to capture the element.

Before using the shortcuts below, navigate to the screen that you want to capture and click the the drop-down menu to open it.

  • To add a step at the end of the walkthrough: CTRL + SHIFT + A
  • Insert Step Before: CTRL + SHIFT + Z
  • Insert Step After: CTRL + SHIFT + X

Using these shortcuts are an alternative to clicking the + Step in the Whatfix Editor.

Keyboard shortcuts are the same for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
