Whatfix Mirror
The following are the updates for Whatfix Mirror:
- Introducing the Whatfix Mirror Dashboard
- Mirror Simulation and Playground
- Stability of Mirror Content with Script Locking
Introducing the Whatfix Mirror Dashboard
What is new?
This release introduces a significant update to managing Mirror Workflow, featuring Mirror Lifecycle Management and a new Mirror Dashboard. Key updates include a dedicated Workflows section for managing and publishing Mirror Workflows, the movement of Workflows and Simulations across stages (Draft, Ready, Production), and the ability to filter and search.
Why does it matter to me?
Managing Mirror content becomes increasingly complex as libraries grow. Relying solely on Whatfix Studio makes it difficult to efficiently manage workflows at scale. Without a structured dashboard view, grouping, navigating, and manually linking screens within Studio presents significant challenges, impacting productivity and efficiency. This release addresses these issues with the Mirror Dashboard, providing tools to effectively organize, manage, and publish Mirror content.
How do I do this?
The Mirror Dashboard is available to all Mirror product users. New users can access the Whatfix Mirror Dashboard. For existing users, this update rolls out in a phased manner.
For more information, see Overview of the Whatfix Mirror Dashboard.
Mirror Simulation and Playground
What is new?
Creating interconnected Whatfix Workflows becomes easier with Simulation. Now, Whatfix Mirror Workflows automatically link together, mimicking a real application and providing end users with an interactive, sandbox-like experience. This enables end users to complete tasks and explore content at their own pace in a way that feels natural, rather than forcing them down a rigid, linear path. Playground Mode allows the decision of whether workflows link automatically; create both free-flowing explorations and guided journeys.
Why does it matter to me?
Previously, building interactive, non-linear learning experiences involved a complex process that required manual linking of several workflows. While linear workflows are essential for step-by-step instructions, they often restrict user interaction and are not ideal for tasks requiring open exploration.
How do I do this?
Simulation and Playground features are available to all Mirror product users. New users can access the Simulation and Playground features along with the Whatfix Mirror Dashboard. For existing users, this update rolls out in a phased manner.
For more information, see Understand Workflows, Simulations, and Playground Mode.
Version-Locked Mirrors
What is new?
This release enhances the stability of Mirror workflows with a new script locking mechanism. This update ensures that your live training content remains unaffected by script updates, providing a consistent experience for your end users.
Updates to Mirror Workflows and Simulations are captured via scripts and these are crucial for reconstructing pages and enabling Mirror content. These Mirrors can now be configured to be version-locked during your training window in the Production stage. This means that even if newer Mirror versions are available, your live content will continue to use the tested and stable version it was initially deployed with.
Why does it matter to me?
Live training content remains reliable and consistent, preventing disruptions caused by script updates. Once the training window is complete, updating the scripts becomes easy. All one has to do is disable the script locking mechanism and perform a Push to production.
