Create a Test case

A Test case replicates the Flow and captures all necessary inputs to initiate the end user’s experience. Edit a Test case after creation to include all required information. This action ensures that the Test case does not fail due to missing information.

Create a Test case

Use the following steps to create a Test case:

  1. On the Whatfix Guidance dashboard, click Auto testing.

  2. Click Test cases.

  1. Click Import flows.

  2. Select the Flows for which you want to create Test cases.

  3. Click Import flows.

Edit a Test case

Once the Test case is created, you can edit the Test case in two ways:

  1. From the Dashboard

  2. Use Live Edit of the Test case

Edit a Test case using the Dashboard

Using the Dashboard, you can make the following edits:

  • Change the Test case name and description

  • Change the target URL

  • Edit the step completion rules

  • Edit the step input

  • Maximize the step screenshot

  • Move input step

  • Delete input step

Use the following steps to edit a Test case from the Dashboard:

  1. On the Whatfix Guidance dashboard, click Auto testing.

  2. Click Test cases.

  1. Click the Test case you want to edit.

  2. Make the necessary changes.

  • In case you need more context as to where was the Test case step created, you can use the Maximize icon on each Test case. This opens the entire screen on which the step was captured, giving you more context.

  • You can move the input step added within the Test case by clicking Move.

  • You can also delete the input step added within the Test case by clicking the Delete icon.

  1. Click Save.

Edit a Test case using Live Edit

Using Live Edit, you can make the following edits:

  • Add a new input step

  • Change the input step name

  • Change the input step tooltip position

  • Move input steps

  • Delete an input step.

Use the following steps to edit a step in a Test case using Live Edit:

  1. On the Whatfix Guidance dashboard, click Auto testing.

  2. Click Test cases.

  1. Select the Test case you want to edit.

  2. On the top right corner, click Live Edit.

  3. On Whatfix Studio, click the step you want to edit.

  4. Click Edit step and make the necessary changes.

  • You can change the input step name.

  • You can change the input step tooltip position.

  • On Whatfix Studio, you can use drag and drop to move the input step.

  • On Whatfix Studio, you can also delete the input step by clicking the Ellipsis icon next to the input step you want to delete, and then from the drop down click Delete TC Step.

You can also add a new input step by clicking the Ellipsis icon next to the step and then from the dropdown selecting where you want to add the input step.

  1. Once you have made the changes, click Save.

  2. On Whatfix Studio, click Save Testcase.

Download Test case Report

Use the following steps to download the Test case report:

  1. On the Whatfix Guidance dashboard, click Auto testing.

  2. Click Test cases.

  1. Click Download Report. A .ZIP file that contains the Test case details in .CSV format is sent to your email.

Info:

The CSV file contains the following details:

  • Test case Name - The name of the flow imported as a Test case.

  • Test Suites - The test suites the Test case is added to (separated by commas).

  • Flow Stage - The stage where the related flow is in.

  • Current Status - The current status of the Test case. For example, Verification failed or Verification required.

  • Updated at - The date and time when the Test case was last updated.

Here is an example report:
