Article summary

What are Goals?

Goals link the steps in a process to its final objective. Goals represent User Actions created on the last element clicked to record the completion of the process in th application.

For example, if the task involves creating a Lead, the User Action is created on the Save button, which, when clicked, completes the lead creation process.

Traditionally, a task is considered complete only if the user follows all the steps of a Flow until the last step. However, users may start a Flow, determine the path after following a few steps, and then exit the Flow. This scenario presents an inaccurate picture of completion because, although the action is completed, it records as a failure due to the Flow being abandoned. With Goals, the last step is tracked, and the task is marked complete, even if the Flow is not used until completion.

Map Goals to a Flow

Mapping Goals to a Flow determines if the user completes the task even if they do not follow the Flow to the end. When users complete the task without Flows, the task is marked as completed in the Task List because the end goal of the Flow is achieved when the user performs the User Action. This enables accurate tracking of the true completion rate of tasks in the Task List.
