Create WCAG compliant Pop-ups

Prev Next

Whatfix strives to provide an inclusive user experience. The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level A and AA success and conformance criteria guide Whatfix's accessibility efforts. Whatfix enables you to create WCAG compliant Pop-ups for users who use assistive technologies, such as screen readers, and for users with cognitive disabilities.

What are WCAG compliant Pop-ups?

Whatfix designs widgets with WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA standards in mind. However, some content configurations and combinations might result in experiences that conflict with WCAG.

WCAG compliant Pop-ups keep your content accessible as you create it. Users who use screen readers get the same level of help as everyone else.

Without the WCAG feature, screen readers give all the text in a Pop-up the same importance. With the WCAG feature enabled, the Title for screen reader field appears when you configure a Pop-up. When you enter a title, screen readers read the title first, and then read the rest of the Pop-up content.

How to create accessible Whatfix Pop-ups?

  1. Contact support@whatfix.com to enable the WCAG feature on your Whatfix Dashboard and Whatfix Studio.

  2. Create or edit a Pop-up. For more information, see Create Popups with Templates.

  3. Go to the Control section. In the Title for screen reader field, enter the text you want screen readers to read.

Note:

The Title for screen reader setting is available only for Pop-ups.

To make the rest of your Pop-up content accessible, follow the WCAG guidelines in Pop-ups Best Practices.
