User-level installation installs DAP on OS within the user’s localAppData folder for a single user. It enables end users to install DAP on OS independently.

User level installation can be done using either a UI based or a Command Line based installation method.

UI based installation

User Interface (UI) based installation is the process of installing DAP on OS application on a computer system using a graphical interface. Users interact with on screen prompts to initiate and complete the installation process. This method involves running an installer program that guides users through the installation steps, such as agreeing to license agreements, and specifying installation directories.

Prerequisite

Ensure that you have an Org ID. If not, contact your Whatfix Representative to get the Org ID.

Windows

  1. Download the latest MSI installer for DAP on OS from the addons URL.

  2. Go to the downloaded file and open it to launch the installation wizard.

  3. Click Next to continue the installation.

  4. In the Destination Folder window, click Next.

Info:

By default, DAP on OS installs in the Program Files directory. You can change the installation path if needed.

  1. In the Player Arguments window, enter the ORG ID and click Next.

Note:
  • Under ORG ID: add the unique value attributed to your organization. To get the value for ORG (that is, Enterprise ID), contact your Whatfix Representative.
  • ORG ID is case-sensitive.
  1. On the Ready to install DAP on OS dialogue box, click Install.

  2. Once the installation is complete, click Finish.

Note:

You must perform a dummy push to production after the installation process.

MacOS

Info:

DAP on OS installation files differ based on the processor type of Mac OS; download accordingly.

Use the following steps to install DAP on OS:

  1. Download the installation file based on your MacOS’s Processor type.

  2. Follow the steps mentioned in the Installation Wizard.

  3. Enter the ORG ID.

Info:

Contact your Whatfix representative to get the ORG ID.

  1. Click Install. If you want to change the installation directory, click Change Install Location.

  2. Click Close and then launch the DAP on OS application.

Note:

You must perform a dummy push to production after the installation process.

Once you launch the application, the Pin widget appears on your home screen:

Command Line based installation

Using the command line based installation method, end users or IT administrators install, configure, and manage DAP on OS by running text commands into a Command Line Interface (CLI) such as Terminal for MacOS or Command Prompt for Windows.

Prerequisites

Ensure that you have an Org ID. If not, contact Whatfix Representative to get the Org ID.

Use Command Prompt or PowerShell for Windows and Terminal for MacOS to install DAP on OS.

Windows

Use the following steps to install the DAP on OS using the Command Prompt:

  1. Download the preferred MSI installer of DAP on OS from the following addons URL:

    For US accounts For EU accounts
    Download Download
  2. Open Windows Command Prompt and then type cd to change the current directory to the downloaded folder.

  3. Run the command to install the WhatfixPlayerInstaller file.

    msiexec.exe /i WhatfixPlayerInstaller.msi ORG=“OrgID” /q /l*v out.txt
    
Note:

Replace "OrgID" with your Org ID.

  1. Press the Enter key.

If there is no error message, the installation is successful.

  1. When the installation is complete, open the DAP on OS app to view Whatfix content.

MacOS

Note:

Use the following steps to install DAP on OS:

  1. Download the installation file based on your MacOS’s Processor type.

  2. Unzip the downloaded file.

  3. Open Terminal and then run the following command to change the directory to the folder where DAP on OS is downloaded.

    cd WhatfixHub/
    
  4. Run the following command with your respective org_id.

    ./whatfixhub_installer.sh -org {org_id}
    
Note:

You must perform a dummy push to production after the installation process.

Once the installation is complete, the DAP on OS app starts automatically.
