Create a Self Help on Mirror

Prev Next

Overview

Whatfix enables you to create a Self Help on a Mirror simulation to give learners an in-app panel that collects relevant content in one place, so they can access guidance on demand while practicing a Workflow. The Self Help widget organizes content selected by you and remains accessible anywhere on the Mirror Screen.

For example, you can create a Self Help on a Mirror simulation to give learners a single panel where they can search for and open Flows, videos, and articles that support the task they are practicing.

For more information, see What is Self Help?

Use Cases

Use Self Help segments to implement the following use cases:

  • Consolidate Flows, videos, and reference material that support a simulated workflow into one searchable panel.

  • Provide learners 24/7, self-serve access to guidance without leaving the Mirror Screen.

  • Reduce dependence on direct support by surfacing contextual help during training.

  1. On the Whatfix Guidance Dashboard, click Widgets.

  2. Click All widgets.

  3. Click Create widget.

  4. Click Self Help.

  5. Click Create Self Help.

  6. Enter a name for your Self Help segment.

  7. Click Next.

  8. Click Add content. For more information, see Add or remove content from Explorer.

  9. Select the checkboxes next to the content that you want to include in the Self Help.

    Info:

Use the Select All option to select all the content from your library.

  10. Click Okay.

    Info:

Group the content that is displayed to appear under different logical headers. For more information, see Manage Groups in Explorer.

  11. Go to Select By Tags to add content using tags.

    Info:

    • Choose from the Default Tags populated by Whatfix. These Tags have their own functions to help you show the right tasks to the right users.

    • For example, Flows tagged with the nolive tag display as a slideshow and do not display a see live option. This helps your end users skim through the Flows without having to visit your webpage or application. For more information on the functions of each of these tags, see Default Tags in your Whatfix account.

  12. Click Set Visibility Rules. For more information, see New Visibility Rules.

    Note:

If you use Role Tag as a Visibility Rule in the Self Help, it overrides any role-based tags attached to the content added to the Self Help. For more information, see Tags as Visibility Rules.

  13. Expand the Where does the self help appear? section, and configure URL and Page tags. For more information, see Set Where your Content or Widget appears with the New Visibility Rules.

  14. Expand the When does the self help start appearing? section, and configure when you want to start showing the Self Help segment. For more information, see Set When your Content or Widget Appears with the new Visibility Rules.

  15. Expand Who does the self help appear to? section, and configure who you want to show your content to. For more information, see Set Who can see your Content or Widget with the New Visibility Rules.

  16. Click Save.

Note:

To display the Self Help on your Mirror simulation, you must move both the Self Help and the Mirror simulation from the Draft stage to the Production stage before you share them with your learners. Publish the Self Help on the Whatfix Guidance Dashboard and the Mirror simulation on the Whatfix Mirror Dashboard.

For more information, see Publish all Whatfix content and widgets to Production and Publish Whatfix Mirror.
