Overview

Whatfix Mirror enables you to detect and redact sensitive information on captured Mirror Bildschirms using Smart Edits. Smart Edits provide AI-powered suggestions for both text and image edits that highlight potential Persönlich identifizierbare Informationen (PII), such as updating UI labels, modifying text, adjusting UI elements, or redacting images. You can review the suggested changes and apply them to the relevant screens as needed, reducing the effort required to review and update Mirror Screens across a Mirror Workflow.

For example, you can use Smart Edits to surface email addresses, account numbers, or financial data on a captured Mirror Screen. Review the suggested redactions and apply them before you share a Workflow with your learners.

How Smart Edits Work

After you capture Mirror Screens for a Workflow, Whatfix automatically analyzes each screen and flags elements that might contain sensitive information with a yellow outline, such as email addresses, phone numbers, IP addresses, financial information, government identification numbers, or other personal identifiers that should not appear in training content. You can then review each flagged element and redact it before you share the Workflow.

With Smart Edits, you can:

  • Review flagged elements grouped into recognized PII categories.

  • Apply AI-powered suggestions for both text and image edits, such as redacting text, modifying UI labels, adjusting UI elements, or redacting images.

  • Accept or reject suggestions individually for each screen, so you control which changes apply.

  • View suggestions in both Whatfix Studio and the Whatfix Mirror Dashboard after you capture Mirror Screens.

Limitations

The following are the limitations of Smart Edits:

  • Smart Edits detect a defined set of commonly recognized PII categories and might not flag content that falls outside these categories. Expand the following accordion for more details:

    Supported PII Categories

Smart Edits support detection for the following PII categories:

    Identity documents and numbers

    • Social Security Numbers (SSN)

    • Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITIN)

    • Aadhaar numbers

    • PAN card numbers

    • National Insurance Numbers (NIN)

    • US Passport numbers

    Contact and personal information

    • Email addresses

    • Phone numbers

    • Personal identifiers (such as names of employees, customers, or other individuals)

    • Contact information (such as addresses and other personal details)

    Financial data

    • Credit card numbers (Mastercard, Visa, American Express)

    • Financial data (such as bank account numbers and payment details)

    Dates and technical identifiers

    • Dates (such as birthdates or appointment dates)

    • IPv4 and IPv6 addresses

    • MAC addresses

    • System log data (such as session IDs and transaction IDs that could enable tracking)

    Visual content

    • Images and media that might contain faces, IDs, or sensitive visuals

  • Smart Edits support image detection only in JPG and PNG formats.

  • When you apply a suggestion, the change permanently updates the content on the Mirror Screen, and you cannot restore the original content after you apply the change.

  • Smart Edits provide suggestions only after you capture a Mirror Screen, in Whatfix Studio or when you preview screens from the Whatfix Mirror Dashboard.

Note:

Always review each captured Mirror Screen and redact any remaining sensitive information before you share the Workflow with learners.
