Export a Mirror Simulation as a SCORM Package

Prev Next

Whatfix enables you to export a Mirror Simulation as a SCORM package for use in a Learning Management System (LMS). The exported package is compatible with SCORM-compliant LMSs. When you export a Simulation as a SCORM package, your learners can access all the Mirror Workflows in the Simulation as one connected training experience directly from the LMS. For more information, see Understand Workflows and Simulations.

For example, you can group your onboarding Workflows into a Simulation, export it as a SCORM package and assign it to new hires as a course in your LMS. The LMS then tracks each learner's completion alongside the rest of their training.

How learners navigate through the exported Simulation in the LMS depends on whether Playground Mode is enabled for the Simulation when you export it:

  • Playground Mode enabled: Learners move freely between the linked Workflows in the Simulation, as one end-to-end learning experience. By default, Whatfix enables Playground Mode when you create a Simulation.

  • Playground Mode disabled: Learners access each Workflow in the Simulation individually, in a fixed sequence.

For more information, see Understand Playground Mode, Disable Playground Mode and Re-enable Playground Mode.

When Digital Adoption Platform (DAP) Guidance content such as Pop-ups, Smart Tips or Beacons, is present for the Workflows in a Mirror Simulation, it appears in the exported SCORM package only if both the Mirror Simulation and the associated DAP widget(s) are in the Production stage. For more information, see DAP Guidance on Mirror and Create DAP Guidance on Mirror.

Info:

If you use Auto Flow Creation to create a Flow for a Mirror Workflow in the Simulation, the SCORM package also includes the auto-created Flow. The Flow moves across stages with its Mirror Workflow, so both are in the Production stage when you export the SCORM package. If a Workflow has no auto-created Flow, the SCORM package does not include a Flow. For more information, see Auto Flow Creation.

Note:

  • To enable SCORM export, contact support@whatfix.com.

  • You can export Simulations as a SCORM package only from the Production stage. For more information, see Publish Whatfix Mirror.

  • Whatfix supports SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 compliant LMS tools. Currently, Whatfix does not support Mirror analytics for SCORM 2004. However, you can track learner progress and course completion through your LMS, where supported.

Use the following steps to export a Mirror Simulation as a SCORM package:

  1. On the Whatfix Mirror Dashboard, go to the Production stage.

  2. Select the checkboxes for the Simulations you want to export.

  3. Click Export SCORM.

    files

  4. Enter a Title for the SCORM export.

  5. Choose the required SCORM Format.

    • SCORM 1.2: The most widely supported version, which tracks completion, score and time spent. For more information, see SCORM 1.2.

    • SCORM 2004: A newer version that tracks completion and pass or fail status separately and supports sequencing. For more information, see SCORM 2004.

  6. Click Review.

    Info:

You can change the order in which Simulations appear to learners in your LMS. Drag and move the Simulations into the required sequence before you export the SCORM package.

Info:

  • After you export the SCORM package, Whatfix downloads a .zip file to your device. Upload the file to your LMS to make the Mirror Simulation available to learners as a course on your LMS.

  • When a learner completes the Workflows in a SCORM package through the LMS, Whatfix generates insights on the Whatfix Mirror Dashboard to track learner performance. For more information, see Workflow Analytics.
