Create DAP Guidance on Mirror

Prev Next

Whatfix enables you to create DAP Guidance for Mirror Workflows and provide interactive, guided training experiences within simulated application environments. By combining captured Mirror simulations with Whatfix Content and widgets, you can create a structured learning experience for your learners.

For example, you can create a Flow that walks new hires through a purchase order Workflow on Mirror, add Smart Tips to clarify mandatory fields, and use a Pop-up to introduce the process before learners begin.

Note:

To create DAP Guidance on Mirror such as Pop-ups, Beacons, Launchers, Smart Tips, and Task Lists, use the base application URL in the visibility rules. If the Mirror Workflow contains screens captured from the same base application, the same Guidance appears on the corresponding Mirror Screens. For more information, see Visibility and Display Rule Conditions and Configure Where DAP Guidance Appears.

The following illustration shows the end-to-end process to create DAP Guidance on Mirror, from creating the DAP Guidance using Whatfix Studio to publishing and sharing the Mirror simulation:

Expand the following accordions for more details:

Step-1: Create Guidance in Mirror

Use the following steps to create Guidance on Mirror:

  1. Launch Whatfix Studio: Launch Whatfix Studio on your application. This enables you to create, edit, and manage all Whatfix Guidance. For more information, see How to install Whatfix Studio?

  2. Select the Content or Widget you want to create: Choose the type of DAP Guidance you want to create, such as a Pop-up, Smart Tip, Beacon, or Task List, depending on how you want to guide your users through the Mirror simulation. For more information, see the Types of DAP Guidance on Mirror.

  3. Create the Content or Widget: Add titles, steps, element selections, and any instructional text required for the selected widget. For example, capture step-by-step actions for Flows or highlight key elements for Smart Tips.

Step-2: Configure Visibility Rules and Preview

Use the following steps to configure visibility rules and preview DAP Guidance on a Mirror:

  1. Configure Visibility Rules: Define when and where the DAP Guidance should appear. You can set conditions based on page, element, or learner role to deliver contextually relevant experiences. Additionally, you can choose whether the Guidance appears on the base application, the Mirror, or both, based on your requirements. For more information, see Visibility and Display Rule Conditions and Configure Where DAP Guidance Appears.

    Note:

For Whatfix Flows, use the Mirror URL as the source URL of the Flow if you want to export the Mirror Workflow as a SCORM package. You do not need to update the source URL of the Flow between the Draft and Ready stages to preview the Flow on Mirror. However, before learners access the SCORM package through a Learning Management System (LMS), you must update the source URL of the Flow to the Production URL of the Mirror Workflow before you publish the Flow. For more information, see Export a Mirror Workflow as a SCORM Package and Preview a Flow on Mirror.

  2. Preview the Content or Widget on Mirror: Access the Mirror URL to preview how the DAP Guidance behaves within the Mirror simulation. Confirm that it appears correctly and interacts as intended across all relevant screens.

    Info:

You do not need to enable Preview mode to view DAP Guidance on a Mirror Workflow.

Step-3: Publish and Share

Use the following steps to publish and share the Mirror with DAP Guidance:

  1. Publish the Mirror: After you test and verify all DAP Guidance, publish the Mirror to move it to the Production stage. This makes the final version of the simulation available for your learners. For more information, see Publish Whatfix Mirror.

  2. Publish the Content or Widget: Publish both the DAP Guidance and the corresponding Mirror Workflow. Once published, the DAP Guidance will appear directly on the Mirror without requiring Preview Mode. For more information, see Push all Whatfix content and widgets to Production

  3. Share the Mirror URL: After you publish content or widget and the Mirror, share the Mirror with your learners to provide access to the finalized guided experience. For more information, see Share Whatfix Mirror.
