Whatfix enables you to customize Dashboards based on your business needs and use cases, and export them. Some of these customization options are available on the edit mode of the Dashboard, while others don't require you to edit the Dashboard.
The following are some customization options that are available:
The following customizations are available for all Insights (Trends, Funnels, and User Journeys) and text added to Dashboards:
- View top metrics
- Drag and drop widgets
- Resize widgets
- Duplicate widgets
- Delete widgets
- Open an insight
- Download chart
- Copy insight ID
- View insight description
You can customize your dashboard without entering the edit mode for actions like viewing top metrics, opening an insight, downloading a chart, copying the insight ID, and viewing the insight description.
View top metrics
Insights added to Dashboards display top metrics, such as Total events, Daily average of engagement, the top most engaged event, and more, enabling stakeholders to interpret the chart or graph correctly and view basic data points upfront.
By default, Whatfix displays the top metrics on the Dashboard. Click Hide Metrics to remove them.
Drag and drop widgets
Use the drag handle to drag and drop widgets (Insights or text) anywhere across the grid. The position indicator (blue line) enables correct positioning of the widget on the grid.

Up to four widgets can be positioned in a row.
Resize widgets
Use the resizing bar to increase or decrease the size of the widget (Insights or text). The snapping points (grey dots) that appear at the top help you position the widget correctly.

A row must contain at least two widgets to enable resizing.
Duplicate widgets
-
On the widget (Insights or text), click the Menu icon.
-
Click Duplicate to create a copy of the widget.
Delete widgets
-
On the widget (Insights or text), click the Menu icon.
-
Click Delete to remove the widget.
Deleting an Insight on the Dashboard has no impact on the actual Insight.
Open an insight
Click the Open insight icon on the Insight to view the Insight added to the Dashboard. The Insight opens in a new page, and Whatfix enables you to make any changes to the Insight. Any changes made and saved to the Insight automatically update all Dashboards where the Insight is added.
Download chart
Whatfix enables you to download the Insights added to the Dashboard as a PNG.
-
On the Insight, click the Menu icon.
-
Click Download chart to download the chart.
The insight is downloaded as a .png file to your local drive.
Copy insight ID
If you want to export Insights using an API, you must have the Insight ID. Whatfix enables you to copy the Insight ID from the Insights added to Dashboards.
-
On the Insight, click the Menu icon.
-
Click Copy insight ID to copy the insight ID.
To know more about exporting Insights using API, contact support@whatfix.com.
View insight description
Hover your cursor over the i icon on the Insight to view the Insight's description. The Insight's description enables stakeholders to understand the Insight's purpose and its relation to the Dashboard.
The following customizations are available only for Trend Insights:
Both customization options are available without entering the Dashboard's edit mode.
Change the chart type for Trend Insights
-
On the Trend Insight, click the Menu icon.
-
Click Chart type and select the desired chart.
View and apply filters
You may have added Event or User Filters to your Trend Insight to drill down on the data. This Trend Insight may be added to a Dashboard for reporting. Whatfix enables your stakeholders to view the filters you've added and add their own filters.
-
On the Trend Insight, click the Menu icon.
-
Click Filter.
The badge indicates the total number of filter values (both Event and User Filters) added to the Insight.
Click Event Filters or User Filters, to view the relevant filters added to the Insight. You can view:
- The number of Event or User Filters added
- The values of the Event or User Filters by which the data is filtered

In the example, four Event Filter and two User Filter are applied on the Any App Events event.
Event Filter: Event Type (Filtered for 4 events)
User Filter: Browser (Filtered for chrome) and Country (Filtered for the United States)
Whatfix enables you to apply more filters to the Insights added to Dashboards but you cannot save them to the Dashboard or export them. The additional Insight-level filters applied to Insights that are part of Dashboards remain view-only.
