Adoption score is a metric that enables product owners to gain insights into user engagement with applications within an organization.
The Adoption score is calculated based on the following parameters:
A: Activity in the application
C: Completion rate
Here is how the Adoption score is calculated:
Activity (A)
Activity measures the number of active users in the application compared to the expected optimal activity. It is computed as the number of unique users in the application divided by the number of licenses procured. Based on the computed percentage, a pre-defined score is assigned for the activity.
- The number of licenses comes from the CSV file uploaded to obtain the license utilization data. Ensure that you've uploaded the license data CSV file to your Enterprise Insights (EI) dashboard. For more information, see Get License Utilization data using Enterprise Insights (EI)
- The number of licenses considered for a specific time period is defined in How is License Utilization calculated?
The following table shows the pre-defined scores for the respective activity percentage:
Activity % | Score |
---|---|
>=1% and <5% | 10 |
>=5% and <20% | 30 |
>=20% and <50% | 60 |
>=50% and <70% | 80 |
>=70% | 100 |
If the Activity percentage is 60%, then the assigned score is 80.
Completion rate (C)
The Completion rate is calculated from the most recent 10 Funnels created in an account, and filtered by the created date. It is computed as the number of users who completed the last step in the Funnel divided by the number of users who completed the first step in the Funnel. The average across all 10 Funnels gives the completion rate. Based on the percentage, a pre-defined score is assigned for completion rate.
If there are no Funnels created in a particular account, then the Adoption score is NA.
The following table shows the pre-defined scores for the respective Completion rate percentage:
Completion rate % | Score |
---|---|
0 | 0 |
>=1% and <20% | 20 |
>=20% and <30% | 30 |
>=30% and <60% | 60 |
>=60% and <80% | 80 |
>=80% | 100 |
If the Completion rate percentage is 60%, then the assigned score is 80.
Both parameters receive a 0.5 weightage in the final calculation of the Adoption score.
Adoption score calculation
Consider that an organization has three applications: X, Y, and Z. They want to understand the Adoption score of application X. This is how the Adoption score is calculated.
Activity percentage (A) = 15%
Completion rate percentage (C) = 30%
Activity score (A) = 30
Completion rate score (C) = 60
Adoption score = (30 * 0.5) + (60 * 0.5) = 45
The final Adoption score is 45.
