Filters in Summary Insights enable you to limit the scope of the events based on various criteria.
For example, analyze the number of times new users (identified by their User IDs) start Flows in any application.
The following table lists the Filters available in Summary Insights:
Filter | Description |

Device Type | Filter users based on the hardware device they use. Examples: Mobile phones, desktops, tablets, and more. For more information on the different types of devices that are captured, see What are the device types captured by Product Analytics? |
Browser | Filter users based on the browser they use to access applications. Examples: Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and more. |
City | Filter users based on their city. This data is taken from the browser. Example: Dallas, Beijing, Bengaluru, and more. |
Country | Filter users based on their country. This data is taken from the browser. Examples: United Kingdom, United States, and more. |
User ID | Filter users based on the ID from which the event is triggered. Example: johndoe@whatfix.com. The User Id filter is case-sensitive. Ensure you add the exact User Id value to get data. |
Event trigger page URL | Filter users based on where the event is launched. |
Extension version | Filter users based on the Whatfix browser extension version in use. |
OS version | Filter users based on the Operating System (OS) versions. |
Extension name | Filter users based on the different Whatfix browser extension names. |
Reserved variable 1 | When Whatfix sends event data, two variables serve as placeholders for additional properties. Reserved Variables are those properties captured along with Guidance and Custom Metrics. They are dependent on events and user interaction and capture data only when all necessary conditions are met. Language | Filter users based on the browser language. Examples: French(fr), Spanish(es), and more. |
Region | Filter users based on the model of their device. This data is taken from the browser. Examples: Camden, Kerala, Central Province, and more. |
Model | Users are filtered based on the model of their device. Examples: Apple iPhone, the Linux Desktop, and more. |
OS | Filter users based on the base software (Operating System OS) that runs on the hardware. Examples: iOS, Linux, Windows, and more. |
User type | Filter users based on whether Whatfix can detect and identify their User ID when they log in to the application. There are two types of users: identified and unidentified. For more information, see How can I filter unidentified users in Enterprise Insights? |
User attribute | Filter users based on the captured User Attributes, such as role and department. |
Add a filter to Summary Insights
Use the following steps to add a Filter to a Summary Insight:

On the Enterprise Insights dashboard, click Insights.

Click Create Insight.

Click Summary Insights.
Click the Edit icon to enter the title for the Summary Insight.
In the Groups section, select Application from the dropdown.
In the Metrics section, click Add metrics, and then select the metrics.
Click Add filter to filter the data based on any of the conditions mentioned above.

Click Event trigger page URL.
Add the required condition, Contains, Starts with, Ends with, Is equal to, or Not contains. For more information, see How do the conditions in Event trigger page URL work?
Enter the URL by which you want to filter the Summary Insight, and then click Add.
Click Apply.
For example, analyze the Adoption score of an application filtered by URL, such as whatfix.com.
Add User ID:
Click User Id.
Add the required conditions, Equal to or Does not equal to.
Enter the exact User ID that you want to filter and then click Search.
Click Apply.
For example, analyze the number of Flows started by all users except test users, filtered by User ID.
Scroll down to view the generated data.
Click Save.
